Preferred over the tavern, 100%. Food isn’t memorable. This place’s biggest draw is the decor, the creativity of how the menu is put together- please note that I mean the MENU, not the actual FOOD on the menu. Ah, and a plethora of board games! Hard to find parking. Came here in the first few months that they opened with a bunch of friends and it was a good time. Highly recommend for a fun night with some buddies – as long as said buddies aren’t big on fancy food and are willing to pay an average of $20 for food and a drink.
After looking at a 4 star review from only 3 months ago with pictures of a great looking burger and fries my wife and I invited a relative to try this place, sadly we regret it immensely. All three of us ordered a storm burger and fries, one was burnt so badly the char could be smelled from across the table. Mine was over cooked as well but not so bad that Id call it burnt. My wifes was well cooked and quite tasty. The fries on all three plates were stale and reheated in a frier at least several times. Aside from that the service was friendly, until they avoided our table after the complaint regarding the first meal, and the sci-fi theme was very nice. Despite this experience clearly being an anomaly we will not be returning.
Worst experience in a long time. Ambiance was good, the lights were a bit on the dimmer side for my liking. There were games you could pull out from the back and play, which would make for a good family friendly place. Service was very lacking. To drink, we had water. The staff came around twice to top our glasses up. There was 3 of us and we all ordered burgers. My uncles burger came out so burnt that I could smell the char coming from across the table and the fries were fried multiple of times. It took 5 minutes to flag any sort of wait staff down as they spent more time in the back. The service staff didnt even ask myself or my husband how our food was. My husbands burger was over cooked and crunchy. Beef burgers should be like that. My burger was ok. Didnt have any ketchup on it, minor inconveniences. I am wondering with the dim lighting front of house, if the cook cooks in the dark. After the complaint was made, the staff avoided our table like the plague and it wasnt even busy. WILL NOT BE BACK. Not worth time nor money, consider being forewarned.
Im not sure why the ratings are so low for this place. Great atmosphere and a nerdy vibe with board games and sci-fi everywhere. Ordered the fried pickles (amazing!) and one of the veggie burgers. Burger was very tasty. Side of poutine was ok, but not worth the extra money. Service was good. Definitely happy to return and try out more burgers!
