Of the many go-to brunch spots in Vancouver, the Oakwood had been my gem for years. Sadly, I feel some staffing changes have not been for the better, leading to an inconsistent experience and causing me to return less and less. Staples like the smoked ham benedict have been hit-and-miss when they’d previously been dialed in every time. I’ve also noticed that the drinks, such as the caesar and off-menu black gin caesar, have significantly fallen off in terms of craft and quality. The food is still good and I very much enjoy the front staff and atmosphere, but I can’t help but feel that some behind-the-scenes changes have knocked a star or two off.
Ambience : Busy place but very very welcoming servers.Food : Very good place for brunch . Everything on the menu is delicious. They serve the ultimate banana bread French toast. And the presentation is worth appreciating. *A perfect brunch place.
The Oakwood Canadian Bistro serves a delightful selection of contemporary Canadian fare along with the old classics. The food was creative and unique without being pretentious. Service and atmosphere are excellent as well.Highly recommended!
Had the eggs benedict and French toast. Smoked ham hock on the benedict was exceptionally tasty and had great (pulled) texture. Eggs were overcooked at first but the server took them back and had new ones to me within 3 minutes. Service was exceptional.
Nice place, service is good, but really depends on who you get to serve you. Dishes were like tapas, made for sharing. We ordered the Chicken Skins, Burger, Poutine, and Partridge. Chicken skins were much like thin pork rinds with a honey mustard dipping sauce. Ok, but not that special. Partridge was really small for $30, not much to share there. We were more impressed with the cheaper offerings, especially the Poutine, which came with slices of brisket on top.
Great food, interesting flavour pairings, good beer and friendly attentive staff (but not annoyingly attentive). Make sure you try the a slow cooked beef it’s unreal. Highly recommend
The waitress was very rude and condescending. Im sure the food is great (didnt stick around to eat) but she shouldn’t be serving customers. Probably wont come back. How unfortunate
