Gluten free bread advertised bit not always available. Twice I have been in and they say it is not available. The sandwiches made with it are truly delicious. Can I ask the owner why the bread cannot just be frozen and kept for those who need it? Surely there is more than just me who needs gluten free. Jim Bell – I am a regular patron so surely they can accommodate us

My belly loves this place!. Pros: Breakfasts, lunches, desserts!! Hospitably, welcoming, quiet place to chill. You can taste the love in everything you eat! Cons: Lunch serving portions are a bit small for those with a larger appetite.4.5 STARS!!

So much better than S____ucks. Every small town centre should have a coffee house like Cafe de Gourmet. The kind of place that’s individualistic, where the baked goods are original, not done according to some corporate plan. The sort of spot where the coffee’s quality might vary, but at least it’s being done by baristas who are trying, not from well-rehearsed automatons. The medium cappucino I had was acceptable, just a touch to the over-espressed side. The most interesting thing about it was the foam. I don’t know how the barista did it, but part of it was stiff like meringue! Not bad — just an unusual texture. I ate one of their Rocky Road pastry slices as I rode my bike down the road looking for the environmental group I was meeting to pull out invasive ivy from one of Ladner’s riverside island parks. It was so good, with all the walnuts, marshmallows and chocolate chunks, that it gave me strength to rip the roots out of those tree-strangling vines!
