We love Speeds. Food is delicious and prices are reasonable. Great view right on the river. Unpretentious. This is where the locals go. Much better than Sharkeys. The shrimp ceasar salad is great.
Great Staff and Food. A friend and I recently had lunch at Speeds. This was my first visit to Speeds. The staff our outstanding…friendly, engaging, welcoming. I ordered the Rueben sandwich…OMG! It was one of the very best Ruebens I have ever had!…Great view of the river, lots of parking…very clean and good clientele….I’ll be Back
What a nice pub. I went to speeds pub yesterday for lunch and had a wonderful time. I orderd the halibut fish and chips, it was cooked perfectly cooked and crispy. Came with a large portion and a wonderful view of the Mitchell bay and the river. I would recommend this pub to anyone.
I like and I don’t like.. I’ve eaten many times in Speedy’s. Yesterday with friends at about 6 PM something, I had the world’s WORST HAMBURGER. The meat was tough and small, the bread must have been 2 weeks old , the rest soso. I also had salmon strips, bad , potato fries, hard and bad. The only good things were, my beer, the onion rings and fried dill peppers I bought for the table. I know you were crowded and busy. But what a bad meal for me to pay $33.00 and a $5,00 tipPlease improve so I can come back. Lyn
WHAT YOU SEE IS WHAT YOU GET. Speeds… What can anyone say about a dream? Speed took a long time to get his! This is a true neighbourhood pub. Neighbours, Regulars, New Be’s, Boaters, Condo Owners, Fishermen, First Nation, First Daters, Elicit Rendezvous…you get it all. Food is standard Pub Fare… Consistent portions, good basic food. Service goes from 3 to 10 depending on who is working and if they are having a good day! They are the ones who make the difference (Hot Food…Cold Food). You can always see Speed in the shadows, if you have time , talk to him… And say hi! You may get a story… Or not! 😉
Service with attitude. Just came back from dinner at Speeds, decent food, with a hearty helping of disrespect, rudeness and really bad service..This was the case when we went there a few years ago and we stopped going, but gave it another try recently. The haughty bitchy server sure ruined our experience so we won’t be going back, esp when Sharkeys is next door with good food PLUS fun, happy helpful efficient servers. Come on. Nick, you can do better.
Update: I’ve had to stop going here, as related in other reviews here some of the wait staff are simply miserable. Not sure why, and I’ve never experienced anything like it before.To be somehow positive let me suggest that if the wait staff wore name badges it would be infinitely more simple for the owner to get usable feedback.As it is, I spend my money next door at Sharkey’s.Nice funky local pub,… With a covered outdoor patio right on a arm of the fraser river. Resident cat and swallows.This place has great pub food specials.Fries are fresh cut and perfectly cooked.Our burgers were good. Obviously made on site. All in all a good food and drink value.
