My friends and I used to go there almost every weekend, until recently a staff member took my jacket off their coat rack because it looked like a similar jacket that had outside alcohol in the pocket and somehow mine got mixed up, MGR said he would investigate on the cameras as to what exactly happened, but never ended up telling me anything. I got my jacket and keys back a week later, after I already spent $400 to get it re-keyed and towed. MGR’s don’t respond to my emails or calls.. They obviously don’t care or want to take any sort of responsibility as to what happened. Won’t be going there anymore.. Downtown is way better anyways.
Visited one weekday evening and was met with a strange subdued atmosphere. First off, the drink menu is pretty good for a pub but the food is average and pricey for what you get so look to daily specials (I do hear the burgers are very good but on expensive side with add-ons) … and service took awhile from the moment we walked in (I think they are struggling in that department). Now heads up, this location is nothing like the downtown Darcy’s. There’s something off. And it’s not just that they are missing a huge front patio. It’s oddly quiet, empty, heavy feeling with no jolly uni students, lively tourists, or merry local urbanites packing the big open space and bringing it to life. Totally different customer base. It doesn’t even translate as a sports bar – more like a restaurant – no busy pool tables or darts or large happy groups of people. This location feels like the neighbourhood watering hole, the local dive, the blue collar hangout. There were a couple of loud burly men in steel toe boots seated at the bar chewing the fat with the bartender. Unapologetic profanity echoing in the large space. A couple of older ladies outside sucking back cigarettes. It was awkward walking in, getting a sense like we were intruding maybe as outside city slickers… even the servers looked out of sorts. Where’s the warmth and smiles and inviting energy…?I know they host live music in evening – playing mainly country? But what about comedy night or trivia/dart competitions or pulling on some popular acts from downtown? Darcy’s has the perfect location here in Westshore and as the area grows and changes and becomes more traffic-locked and disconnected from downtown it desperately needs a cool, hip, vibrant hangout to attract a new, youthful energy. Like The Beagle in Cook St Village, a bustling joy-filled central neighbourhood hub… The owners just need to figure out how to translate some of that bright downtown energy into Langford. Or maybe that’s the issue, it’s Langford, a rugged family town in the backwoods burbs… hopefully Darcy’s figures things out because there’s huge potential here.
Terrible. Went on Saturday evening, sat down at a table with about 6 people before it was even busy, not ONCE did a server come by, yet all tables around us were served. We had to go to the bar to order everything which included food and drinks. When we asked the bus girl about a server she just shrugged and said she wasn’t one and walked away looking lost. Food was alright, but they really need to learn MANY things from how the downtown Darcy’s is run because their customer service doesn’t just lack, it pretty much doesn’t exist unless you know someone that works there. Unfortunately this isn’t the first time this has happened, or the second. I don’t know why I keep going back expecting something different…
4 ofus went 8 p.m. sat, 1( vet with ptsd)goesno place with out his service dog. theyrefused us entry saying dogs not allowed, same four plus service dog went early jan. and the staff could not be kinder to us all and welcomed us in and got the dog h2o. why do you have staff with opposite standards, this is bad for business, we went to 4 mile, they welcomed us and the dog and we spent $120 and had a great meal and great service. dog on left is the service.
How is this a pub? It’s a restaurant and does not have much in the way of what you’d expect to eat in a pub. Food depends: beef dip good, fries hot. Onion ring apps excellent. Fish & chips sub par: $20 for 2 pieces that are mostly batter (four bites of fish for $20!). Service good except once good delivered waitress disappeared for 15 min so we had to search for our own vinegar and salt. Handling criticism of fish & chips: 15% off or another piece of fish. I would say that the unbattered fish they brought was amazing, and the waitress was overall amazing.
Food is excellent, although I will always miss the old Station Houses poutine with bacon. Service can be give or take but I haven’t had any bad experiences, just a few lack of check ins to see how we are doing. Definitely returning.
Great food. Have had the tuna tataki a few times and we tried the prawn tacos. Great fresh tasting Service was sub par. No hostess when we walked in so just sat ourself and then given attitude because of seat we choose. Waitress rushed us many times and even took a drink I was finishing from my hand. Had to ask her two times to chill. When we ordered dinner she took first and order and left had to wave her back so last two could order. Plate was dirty so asked for replacement and again was bitchy Nasty service from then on Left a sour taste going to a place we have enjoyed in the past dozens of times I hope management hasn’t asked staff to rush people out on busy Friday’s Maybe we will c you next Tuesday and she won’t be working
