Ive come about 5 times since it opened. The first two times (including day 2) the service/food arrival was painfully slow. But the food was so amazing I was willing to give it another chance. Service has been much improved. If its busy, expect to wait for the deliciousness youll receive on your plate.
Always great to see a successful downtown hip hangout migrate out to West Shore, especially Langford. No need to wrestle with snarly traffic to visit a popular food joint. The local, organic comfort food movement has spread to the sticks! Visited on a Tuesday afternoon. It was busy in the large former Checkered Flag pub, which is a good sign. It’s not as hipster-chic of a space as DT but same food, same service. The servers were friendly, attentive and easy going. Prices are tad high compared to the greasy spoons and chain restaurants in town but food is quality, creative and locally sourced. Ordered Classic Benny with homemade biscuit and the hollandaise sauce was creamy, smooth and delicious. Impressed with all the vegetarian/vegan options and the classic diner dishes as well. Mushroom burger was full of good meaty ‘shroom flavour. The pesto hashbrowns are subtle and tasty. Kudos to the kitchen! A taste of downtown in the deep burbs. Mo:L in Langford is worth a visit for a quality feel-good breakie, brunch or lunch.
We came here last Sunday after hearing some conflicting reviews. The service was pretty slow but when a restaurant opens usually it’s to be expected. Our server seemed like she wanted to be anywhere else on earth, so that also put a bit of a damper on things. I ordered the poached eggs with tinga and it was so good, the lime creme fraiche sent me to heaven! However my friends all ordered the tomato chipotle sausage hash and each plate was DRASTICALLY different from the next. Apparently they lacked flavour and they expected more chipotle in the sauce. I’d like to visit again once they become a little more in the swing of things!
