Awesome place. Don’t know what the other reviewers are talking about.. never ordered a cake from there but I have no complaints about the pastries or cookies or anything like that. I mostly get sandwiches from there which are DELICIOUS. I work next door and I would 100% choose Bake House sandwiches over any nasty, smelly Subway sandwich. They are not a whole lot cheaper than Subway but fill me up just the same, and the ingredients are way more fresh. I believe in supporting local small businesses, and I love the girls that work there so I will 100% choose this place over Safeway’s stuff. Try it for yourself because people will tend to write negative reviews based on their perception of a negative experience, and will rarely if ever bother to write positive reviews.

Excellent cinnamon buns. My wife and I love visiting independent bakeries to find gems. The gem in this bakery is their cinnamon buns. We don’t buy much else there, but their c-buns are worth it!

Tried to find something good at this place for 2 years now.. I’ve lived in the area for about 2 years now, and as I became an apprenticed baker while I worked my way through college I still have a weakness for supporting local small bakeries where I can, and just supporting local businesses is good too. I have given this place so many chances. First off I truly doubt they even have any trade bakers working there, and if so they should be ashamed. All of the bread products I have tried have been of the baked from frozen, or else baked from a dry pre-mix ilk that likely comes from Maple Leaf, Robin Hood, or the easy-bake Snowcap line up. So for authenticity and taste, sadly, you’ll probably get more of both from the nearby Safeway that actually has a few trade bakers working there. They do carry cake products from The Cakery, and The Cakery makes some very yummy things. So it may be okay if you are ordering cakes for fresh pick-up, but every time I’ve bought one from the display it has been awful and stale tasting. They are keeping display items way too long, or their display case is malfunctioning. My husband does like a few of the things like the cream puffs, and the chocolate dipped cheese cakes are also not bad if you are lucky to get them fresh and not soggy. However, even the stuff that is not downright bad is nothing to write home about; you’d make better products yourself at home with a Google search recipe. Tonight was the last straw, we tried a lemon meringue pie, which was horrid; the meringue was over-sweet and uncooked in the center and spilled out like a Cadbury cream egg filled with soap suds when we cut it. The lemon filling had almost no flavor, the smell was reminiscent of lemon pledge, with a weird lingering after taste. I’m sorry guys I tried to like you, I just had nothing to work with… my 6 and 7 year old’s still like your sugar cookies and the blueberry bran muffin I had once was good, if that is any consolation.I have never ordered a decorated cake for an event from here, so maybe that is where they shine, especially if they make their own and don’t use the frozen slabs. I have heard good things from friends about their cake orders. In response to reviews saying they buy stuff from safeway, I’d just have to say that I very much doubt it. It is possible they have some of the same suppliers, but I find it hard to believe any business would presume so lowly on customer intelligence as to buy products from their neighbour to sell in their own shop.

A Big Hit. I organized a workplace baby shower for one of my team members and ordered the cake from Bakehouse Bakery. Although the cake was expensive it was an HUGE hit. Everyone expected another standard cardboard supermarket cake and amazed at the pure luxury of the cake. I ordered the red velvet with cream cheese frosting. I was a little disappointed that they had to use some cream frosting for decorating but even the cream frosting was not too sweet. The cake itself was beautifully moist with lots of flavour and the cream cheese filling was deliciously rich and decadent. One person that attended the shower lives in the fraser valley but is going to drive all the way to PoCo to get her mothers birthday from Bakehouse. The down side it looks like I may end in charge of bringing the cake for our work events. Great job Bakehouse!

I agree with the previous post.. we ordered a cake for a baby shower and it looked NOTHING like how we wanted. I would never recommend this place to anyone.

I’m a huge baked goods fan, but out of 6 different products I really only liked the cinnamon bun. Cookies were dry and hard, muffin was bland and cheese cake average. For a bakery I expected more. Sorry

Very disappointed. I have purchased baked goods from this bakery and have been happy with them. But I do not recommend ordering cakes from this bakery at all. I ordered my 2 year old daughter’s birthday cake from this place. Sent pictures of the cake I wanted. They told me the cake would cost $180.00 because it had 3 characters on it and would take a lot of work to do. so I agreed and the day of my daughter’s birthday a friend picked up the cake for me. it was horrible. To begin with, the cake I ordered was square and they made a round cake. a lot of details were missing. the fondant had cracks all over. very poor craftsmanship and lack of attention to details. The cake did not taste any more special than cakes you would purchase at a grocery store. As frustrated as I was there was really nothing I could do. There was no time to replace the cake…and all I got from this place was an apology and $50 return. you be the judge, here is an example,,,,,,,,,,,I’m adding a pic of her cake
