Had a chance to go back to my old hood today (PoCo). It is at this restaurant where I fell in love with Korean pork bone soup. This review is for the pork bone soup. I’ve been a regular here for years until I moved; and everytime I get it, it’s delicious. I had many other pork bone soups at many other Korean restaurants, and I still think the one here is the best. The service here is great. Funny story. I was here one day and had decided to try something new. The chef came out to grab a drink, and saw me. He checked the ticket when he went back to the kitchen and came right out to confirm my order because I always get the pork bone soup. It was the blood sausage soup that I ordered that day. I told him that I wanted try something new. We all had a chuckle over it. That’s how often I was there, even the chef remembered my order. Lol.
T.E.O is a hidden Korean gem located in Port Coquitlam. The restaurant might be a little bit difficult to access as the only entrance is via Westbound traffic on Lougheed Highway. It definitely worth the trouble to eat at this restaurant though since the food is amazing and the prices are great. The restaurant does not have much of a curb appeal from the outside but once you enter it is much better. The decor is relatively plain but it is cleanly and neat. It is a fully Korean run restaurant that seats at maximum around 50 people. I have never had to wait to be seated though the place does see a good turnover and small crowd.Once you enter, you are promptly shown your table and seated. They offered you the option of tea or water to start off along with the menus. We ordered the Bulgogi in Hot Stone Bowl Soup and the Small Octopus Rice (mild). The side dishes (banchan) came first. There was a good variety between them including seaweed, bean sprouts, potato, kimchi, and radish. The main courses came pretty quickly after the side dishes (around 15 mins total for everything to arrive). The Bulgogi soup was absolutely packed full of food. There was lots of Bulgogi (beef), bean sprouts, carrot, onions, green onions, and potato noodles. There likely more in there and it all tasted amazing. The soup has an amazing full savoury taste that is a little bit sweet. It came in extremely hot and needed to cool down before you ate it. The soup came with a bowl of rice. The rice was not your plain white rice either. There was some purple grains in there made it stand out though it did not taste all that different. The Small Octopus Rice was a nice combination of freshly cut vegetables, mushroom, and of course, octopus. It was topped off with rice in the middle of the dish. It had a sweet savoury flavour that is similar to teriyaki but learns towards savouriness rather than sweetness. When you mix it all together, it becomes a glorious melange of flagrant flavours and textures.Throughout the meal, the wait staff made sure that our meals were to our satisfaction. In addition, they came by to refill our tea and side dishes as necessary when they became low or completely gone. This is my favourite Korean place in the Lower Mainland as the flavours totally remind me of my visit to Seoul. For an authentic experience that will not break your wallet, I would recommend this place to anyone wanting to try Korean for the first time or is an avid Korean cuisine enthusiast.Make sure to like and follow if you’ve enjoyed this post!
I love Korean food, so when I recently moved to Maple Ridge, I was looking for a close by and delicious place to get my fix. Driving down the hi highway, I saw this place, so me and my sister decided to give it a try. And boy, am I glad we did! The woman who greeted us (not sure if she’s the owner..) was so incredibly friendly and helpful! I wasn’t sure what to eat, so she gave me some suggestions. The food was outstanding. The side dishes were pretty standard, except for one – this.. Potato dish, covered in a sweet brown gravy? I have no idea what it was, but it was out of this world! I ordered the mandu rice cake soup, which was very good! Not much flavour, but most Korean soups like this don’t, and you season it with their pepper and soy sauce – I mostly ordered it because it was a cold rainy day, and boy did it hit the spot! My sister got a pork kimchi rice dish, and she swears it’s the best Korean food she’s ever had! We also ordered the homemade mandu, which were the best I have ever had! And I spent a month in Seoul, South Korea, so that is saying something! For leaving completely stuffed, the food was well priced also. Overall, I highly recommend this place to anyone! While it is somewhat intimidating looking from the outside, the inside is so clean, and everyone is so nice. Definitely a little piece of Korea in Port Coquitlam.
This place is a hidden jewel! The (soondae guk/ sausage soup) is the best that i have EVER tasted. (And i have been to countless korean restaurants) The prices are incredibly cheap and the food and service is excellent. The reason why it is not popular is because of how the restaurant looks. The side dishes and main courses all taste authentic and amazing!
Decent place to eat hearty Korean food. Dumpling Hot Pot was very filling as it comes with noodles to cook together afterwards. Tasty and definitely satisfying.
OK restaurant.. The store is on my way to work so I order take-outs from here once in a while, only the bulgogi box… We had ramen from there too, pretty light which is good to my taste. Bibimbap is not the best I’ve had. Overall the store is clean, staff pretty friendly, food reasonably priced… if you don’t mind traveling a little further for Korean food, Lougheed Mall area do offer a lot more better options.
My favorite (and my family’s) Korean restaurant! Great home-style food. Great cheerful service! Reasonable prices! Kim-chi so so but kim-chi radish is phenomenal! Who would guess from appearance?
