Good Japanese food but a little overpriced. I was at Ebisu Sushi Abbotsford on Nov 14th 2013 with a friend. I ordered vegetable tempura, miso soup and tamago roll. My friend ordered a box dinner with sashimi and chicken and also a chef roll. My dinner was just under $14 after tax and was all good. I couldn’t finish all of the tempura because I was stuffed. My friends dinner after tax was around $34 which I thought was a bit pricey for what he got. His sashimi was so so, some of it was tough and stringy. He said it was pretty sad that the best part of the dinner was the chicken, after all you can get chicken at many restaurants that aren’t Japanese. I will go back again to order what I found the dishes I liked but I will stay away from the sashimi.
The servers are slow and clueless. So don’t expect good service. They never even offered a refill on tea – I was alone and they treated me very isolated – not cool. The food is better than average for abbotsford. I would return but would rather sit at the bar so the owners could see how incompetent their servers are. This could be a great restaurant if they had better staff. And the price is reasonable too. It’s has a quaint Japanese feel – being from Vancouver it’s one of the better sushi restaurants.
Never again!. After having been a parton at this restaurant for many years, paying more than at similar restaurants and putting up with deteriorating quality food the last straw was the rudeness of the staff there. The restaurant need to rediscover why it became popular many years ago. Until then I will happily go elsewhere for my sushi fixes.
Social Sushi. I like Ebisu. Its nice to go there when you are going out with friends or a birthday party. They do not take too long bringing out your food but the sashimi always takes a really long time, ive noticed. But the drinks and sushi is fine. My boyfriend loves their taco rice though, it tastes really good. I usually order the chiwawi cheese (don’t know how to spell it) and mango paradise. the oysters are good too to eat with a group of friends. Whenever I go the service is fine and decently fast. Its a nice chill place to eat – semi casual.
Food usually good, service not so much. The food is generally good here but the service is unforgiveable. Im by no means that person that demands perfection, but waiting 15 minutes for a glass of water and some menus is a bit much. Also the wait to have food packed up was way too long. The three times i’ve been, Ive had bad service. Wont be going back
Too bad, so sad. I’ve always enjoyed the sushi rolls and their lunch bento boxes are great value. However, the last time I was there the service was astonishing rude. This woman server actually ran away from us in the middle of our order to answer the phone. I ordered their special house roll without the sauce on it and she forgot. She actually tried to convince me to eat it anyway…. when I refused and asked her to redo it, I overheard her lieing to the sushi chefs that I had changed my mind. Then when we were paying she actually tossed my $5 change, from a $20 into her tip jar! Never, never, never again will I go there.
I always enjoy my meals at Ebisu, their spicy tuna tower is amazing. I wouldn’t recommend any of their cooked stir fru dishes as I feel they miss the mark with their flavor profile. I’ve never once had any sushi dishes to complain about. Prices are slightly higher than competitors but their flavor is superior. You get what you pay for.
