Go for the Ma la Tofu don’t bother with the Beef Noodle Soup. The menu put me off from being adventurous because the items are so expensive but the restaurant itself is let’s call it: rough around the edges. And service? Ha!

Vegetarian here. Went for lunch with Co-workers, decent food but nothing on the menu that is vegetarian. I had the beef tofu without beef. It came out quite oily and really not the flavor what I was expecting. Would not recommend it for a vegetarian but my co workers like it. I guess the meat is good.

We really didn’t like the food from Alvin Garden. We ordered the fish in spicy soup (one of their most popular dishes) as well as the pan fried spicy chicken. Even though it’s Hunan cuisine, both dishes had a Szechuan feel as they left our tongues numb (which we hate). Maybe we just ordered the wrong items, but combined with the high prices and poor service, we will not be back.

This is hunan cuisine, and again it’s hunan it’s not szechuan, there’s a resemblance in spice but totally different in taste in my opinion. Most of the food are spicy over here, choosing mild for me is always the best option as i’m not a big fan of sweating and gulping down water while eating if possible. usually i let my friend order in this place, because she likes eating over here, however the items that she choose most of the times even though it’s mild/medium, i have a challenging time downing the spicyness without a big chunk of rice mixed with the food.overall the food is good i’ll say, above average, however what i don’t really like is the part of the cuisine is that it’s a little bit sour, not sure what it’s from but there’s a very mild taste of sour beside from spicyness and saltiness.overall i don’t recommend the restaurant, this is just a personal preference of mine, but at the same time i have found many of my friends like this place. the pic is taken during dec of 2013 ish with spicy diced chicken dish. as you can see it’s all spicy spice on top of the chicken 😀 mangkr.wordpress.com

Upon entering, from the smell, you can tell you’re in for a ride. If you like spicy, flavorful, greasy food, then definitely come here. Although, sometimes I find the food can be quite salty.

Large portions, tasty food. I’m not too picky with which area of china the food is from or how authentic it is. The food here is more on the spicy side. Lots of dishes come out looking like meat swimming in a pool of chili oil or stir fried in red chili pepper. Looks interesting but tastes great! This place has large portions, great tasting food at decent prices. Lots of large tables for big groups. Parking is a bit tricky though. Would love to come back!

For Chilli lovers!. Went for dinner on Saturday afternoon and glad that we made it to the restaurant early! The restaurant was fully packed with people by 6:15pm. Ordered the Garlic Chili Pork, a spicy chicken appetizer and cumin lamb. The garlic chilli pork has a good level of spiciness and flavour – my favorite dish! Lamb slices in the cumin lamb was actually pretty spicy but the lamb was cooked tender and restaurant was definitely not stingy with the cumin seasonings! The spicy chicken appetizer was around 8 bucks and is in a good portion size. Prices here a little bit in the higher end but great big portions. Definitely would visit again for Alvin Garden’s lunch menu. However, a special note that all the dim sum, soup noodle and soup from the regular menu are not available during dinner service – which was really disappointing 🙁
