It’s been many years since I visited this restaurant and it’s still around. With recommendation, I tried the pork hock noodle in soup. The pork hock was tender and marinated perfectly, with good amount of fat and lean meat. I also like how the bowl came with some veggie to balance the meal. It’s a good portion of everything. The soup base isn’t my favourite because I prefer something lighter and less oily given the pork hock was already quite fatty. 10% tips are added to the bill automatically so pay attention when you pay. Service was so so as no water was given while I was waiting for my friend.
Went to this tiny cafe. It’s right across Metrotown and easy to miss. Nonetheless I’ve been asked to meet and give it a try. Beef noodle was excellent. The beef was tender and the soup base was excellent. I recommend this dish. They have some desserts that are available which is from Camelia which is the other branch they own.
It was my first time to try this Taiwanese restaurant. It is limited space that tables and chairs occupy most of the space. It has limited space to walk. Not quite comfortable though. Two servers and two chefs worked at this restaurant. The servers were older people. Their service was okay but I felt a bit rude. When I sat down, I had not even looked at the menu yet. One of the two servers asked what I wanted to eat. She didn’t even give me time to look at the menu. Then she gave me a little bit of time and walked away. After a minute, I had not even made up my mind and she came back and asked what I wanted to order. My friend just said I should order the braised pork with noodles and lettuce. I trusted her as she had lunch here before. After I ordered, the server grabbed the menu right away. I was looking at the drinks menu, so she didn’t take it away. But after a minute, she asked if I would order drinks. I said later and then she grabbed the drinks menu immediately and gave it to other customers at another table. The braised pork with noodles and lettuce was just okay. The texture of the noodles was actually good but the pork was too chewy that it should be braised or cooked longer. The soup base had way too much sesame oil, so my lips or mouth were always full of oil. LOL I had to use napkins to wipe my mouth very often. My friend said her Chinese dumplings with noodles was okay. I didn’t try it, but by looking at her dish, it was not bad. When we paid the bill, we had to pay extra attention! The restaurant had added 10% tip to the bill already. If some customers did not pay attention, they would have added 10% tip to the bill, but indeed the restaurant added the tip to the bill already. Their prices were not cheap comparing other Taiwanese restaurants. There are other good Taiwanese restaurants in Lower Mainland. I wouldn’t want to come back to eat here again. Sorry.
Bow Bow Food: 3.5/5; Services: 4.5/5; Special Features: , .It is a tiny restaurant, and it locates across from Metrotown on Kingsway. Their menu is in Chinese only. Big bowl of noodles with limited veggies.
used to be my friend’s favorite place to grab dinner/lunch and apparently is one of the store that doesn’t look convincing from the outside. the menu most of them are in chinese, and the waiter can speak mandarin fluently, and basic english. I’ll say the food tasted great, i ordered the mapo tofu with rice, rice with chicken, and creme bruleee :)overall the taste of each items are wonderfully made, the flavor of the mapo tofu with spice and the mixture is really great. and as for the chicken i didn’t really like the sauce, but the chicken was tender and it was breast meat so it was not as juicy. and the creme brulee was definitely good. and for the price is almost the same with other taiwanese restaurant. the place is really small, but it’s really packed in most of the time, might have to wait around 20 minutes- 30 minutes during peak hours.would suggest going or breaking into smaller group to be seated faster 😀 and it’s run by a family i think 🙂 and the owners are really nice too. mangkr.wordpress.com
This place is clean and neat, but not good enough to cover their zero service! Food are just so so, not as good as any mom homemade beef noodle, price is already overcharged and they even put 15% tips on top! They are lazy as asking you to read the menu on the side wall instead of prepared customers with proper menu. Can come and see if you agree with me.
Still the best. My partner and I have been coming to this place for a few years now. I will shamelessly let my Taiwanese heritage lend credence to this review. Previously known as Accord Noodle House, the tiny and inconspicuous restaurant is run by a family with an impeccably-clean kitchen and a simple faux-European tea culture aesthetic. Unlike other Taiwanese (unfortunately usually bubble tea) places, this restaurant is run by dedicated family cooks rather than part-time teenage employees. My Caucasian partner and I have tried several of their noodle and rice dishes, always made with care and a delicate touch, and plated in a pleasing manner and an eye for aesthetics. Oftentimes, food at other Chinese restaurants feels cheap and carelessly made, with copious amounts of sauces lathered onto subpar ingredients; it is certainly not the case with Accord (I prefer the old, less ridiculous name). Their beef noodle soup is good, but personally I prefer their other dishes, such as the cold noodles offered in the summer for those who like their noodles textured and chewy, and their rice dishes, which always come with an excellent main component, side vegetables, and other seasonal goodies.Others have complained about their service and lack of hospitality with English-speaking clients. In my experience they were always polite, bringing us the English menus and ensured we were served in the same manner. The size of the place necessitates a bit of chaos when it comes to waiting for a table, as there is really no space to spare. I have also seen them accommodate larger groups, couples with young children…etc. Certainly don’t seem to be of poor service. They do, however, automatically add gratuity to your bill, which seems like odd practice, but once we realize that’s what they do, we don’t mind.
