Last night, I came here for a quick, inexpensive dinner. First off, wow, this stall sure is popular! However, the lady there was quite forgetful.. she asked me to pay when I already paid then gave me twice as much change afterwards. The wait for the food was extremely long too, but I guess that’s expected from the food court, and it’s good that everything’s made fresh.I got their Mushroom & Vegetable Noodle Soup ($4.75, +$0.50 for flat rice noodles). The bowl seemed shallow at first, but there was lots of noodles so it was definitely a substantial meal. This has a good amount of broccoli, shiitakes, carrots, bok choy, green onions, finished off with a splash of fragrant sesame oil. my go to place for porridge, in burnaby, although there are some other places as well, but this one is single handedly the nearest to metrotown and the poridge tasted pretty good as well, the prices are also relatively cheaper than the surrounding competitor, for around $6-$8 you can get a bowl of porridge 😀 the porridge they did add a little chicken broth too i think, because if i can always taste that it’s a lot more flavourful than the porridge that i used to have back home, where it’s all plain rice and water. So definitely will recommend this place for porridge and also chinese deep fried dougnut if you’re missing the cuisine of breakfast in china 😀 mangkr.wordpress.com

This place is going downhill…getting worse and worse. I use to like this place a few years ago. they had pretty good congee combos. however this place is not the same anymore both quality and quantity has gone down so much that I’ll never eat here again especially since there are so many good places to eat in that food court. I ordered a wonton noodle soup today and it was terrible. wonton was the size of a grape and no shirmp inside, tiny bit of pork and it had a rancid taste. worse than frozen wontons I get from T&T.

Seriously?. I ordered the congee and fried noodle combo. I had fish with scallop congee and fried noodle. The noodle was cold, it was the worst fried noodle i ever had. The congee was ok, at least it was hot but the taste wasn’t good enough for me to eat there again. The spoon for the super hot congee must be some super cheap plastic spoon. It is so soft and once you put it in the congee, it becomes softer. Overall, it is very difficult to find a place that can make a meal so unenjoyable. It blows my mind.

Fast, Cheap, Good!. Most of the venues in the Crystal Mall food court are quite good, cheap, and ridiculously fast…but I can’t get enough of Fung May’s congee! They have every kind of congee you can imagine for $5-6 and it’s a generous, bubbling hot portion. My favorite is the salted pork and century egg. And if you don’t already know what congee is, then you probably won’t like it 😉 They have tons of other rice and noodle offerings too. I’m a big fan of Fung May’s!

Excellent Congee. I’ve been coming here for breakfast for a couple years now, and recently Fung May’s had a change in management. Some younger middle-aged folks are running the place now, but the service doesnt seem to have changed – still great! I haven’t tried everything on the menu, but their congee is definitely some of the best I’ve had in Burnaby South. The portion is huge, and I’ve never had a bowl that skimped on ingredients, with lots of pieces of seafood, chicken, beef brisket, or veggies everytime. The value is pretty good as you get a very filling serving of your choice of congee for $4.50 or $5.00 depending on the ingredients. The last time I went with a ladyfriend, neither of us could finish our orders. Fung May’s is very satisfying and tasty.
