I got their bean sprout chicken and was expecting to get great things as it is their namesake. However it was a big letdown. The biggest factor was how bland it was. The chicken seemed only lightly marinated and the bean sprouts tasted like water. To make things worse, they serve this with regular white rice instead of the flavoured rice that they serve with hainanese chicken. I might try this place again for one of their other dishes and edit my review but I don’t think I’ll order their bean sprout chicken ever again.
My new go-to place at the Crystal Mall food court!I don’t quite remember the names of the 2 things i tried… One is the noodle dish in the picture (which was pretty good) and the other was the crispy noodle with a creamy egg sauce which was really good! The noodles were crispy but not burnt and the sauce was a bit liquidy but i prefer that over super thickened sauces. (unfortunately i don’t have a photo of that…) hungryblob.wordpress.com
Quite surprised to see some of the past reviews that state the laksa had no flavour. Perhaps they went on the off day. This is one of my favourite places for laksa.I’ve had the laksa here many many times and I still love it. Full of flavour, perfect spice, and they always give a generous amount of toppings.I’ve had both the Chicken laksa and the seafood laksa and they are both equally good. I like that they use both the yellow noodle and the vermicelli noodle. Most other places just have the one kind.
Boyfriend loves loves loves this place. He’s the biggest fan of hainan chicken and this is one of his favorites. Its boneless tender juicy chicken for $7. He also got the nasi goreng fried rice for $7 and although I’ve had better he thinks its 5/5!! All and all dinner here is cheap! One of the best food court foods (Aberdeen mall is also bomb diggity)
I was so happy to find this neighbourhood food court option. If you are a Malaysian, you must definitely check out the Char Koay Teow, Koey Teow in Creamy Sauce and get the bottled sambal . The taste is the closest to what I had in Malaysia. Yum!If you are hungry you should avoid this place. The wait is long. I think there is only one cook at the back. But if you don’t mind waiting, must try the Char Koay Teow
We just choose a random place in the food court called Ipoh Bean Sprout Chicken. Of course any smart person would have gone for chicken because it’s in the name of their restaurant but I decided to go for the Laksa because I was craving it.Unfortunately, it just wasn’t that good. It was weak on the flavours. The coconut flavour was lacking and didn’t taste very strong. It wasn’t very salty and lacked depth to it. No curry flavours at all. It was more sweet than anything else. The noodles were also not cooked that great. The vermicelli broke very easily. On the upside the portion was not too small and there was a good amount of fishballs. Presentation was also not bad.
It’s hard to say anything bad about a Malaysian joint that actually puts real cockles in their Char Kway Teow. I absolutely loved every dish in this place. In fact, I loved it to the point I had to be rolled out of the food court. I really felt as though I was in a proper Hawker Centre. This should not be missed.
