I come here from time to time because it is quite close to where I live. I ate my food and came up to pay with a card and they have changed their tipping system so that you have to pay tip from 12%, 15% and 18%. MANDATORY. There was no other buttons in the card machine. It’s not like their service is fantastic either. I will usually give tip from 10%~15% if the service ain’t too poor but the idea of forcing people to tip? I’m never coming back here again.
When you try to pay with a card, there’s ONLY 3 options. 12%, 15%, and 18% after tax.. You can’t edit amount or write custom amount but instead forced to choose from those options. Thought I was seeing things in the card machine so I had to ask three times just to check.. No one wants to be forced to give tip.
My favourite place for Pho in Burnaby and Vancouver area. Very friendly staff. Prices are good and the are open 24/7. Best indeed. Can only recommend.
Probably not the best place to eat Pho. The broth is very salty and MSG like. Maybe the after the club goers who are drunk wouldn’t notice this. The fried chicken is good. Not much else to say….square plates? itsmechuck.com
TL;DR: oh boi,at least it’s open 24 hours…It’s 24 hour pho, people. Don’t get your hopes up on the service, I don’t think I’d be cheery at 4 am. But when you’re hungry and battling the onset of a hangover, I guess this would make a decent stop considering most else where is closed. If you’re sober…go somewhere else to fulfill your pho cravings. I find the broth watered down, menu doesn’t have sate sauce. I had their beef stew and I had to scoop out at least a tea cup full of oil hanging around the top. It wasn’t very tasty after either…
We were headed to another restaurant for lunch and when we got there the place was packed. So we diverted to Pho Boi. It turned out to be a pretty good diversion. When we arrived the staff were very friendly and helpful. One thing that does annoy me is when they hand over a menu and then ask within a minute if you know what you are going to have. Regardless, we each ordered large bowls of pho and we’re pleased with the soup they brought us. I had the one with steak, fatty brisket and tendon and tripe. Not too much tripe in mine or fatty brisket. What was there was very tasty. For appetizers we shared a plate of Vietnamese style wings which were crispy and very tasty. The fried and the spring roll were also lovely.I will return and have no hesitation in recommending Pho Boi.
Literally my dad’s favourite place for pho and we always always go here. They’ve got hearty sized servings and their food is good too. Lemongrass chicken vermicelli was a little bit salty for me, but also flavorful. Chicken noodle soup is a decent choice, they give you plenty of noodles and meat. Seafood noodle soup is a bad choice; they give you imitation crab sticks and barely anything else.I would recommend if you’re feeling pho within the area, the serving sizes are great and it tastes good too!
