Nice cozy restaurant with excellent service. We were lucky to get a table at 7pm without a reservation. Their food was superb! Love everything. Like the idea of having shared plates so everybody gets a taste of everything. Will definitely come again.
Burdock’s is fantastic. Their dishes are not only pretty but tasty! I love their fried chicken! It is so tender and crispy. Honestly, I’ve never had a bad dish there.
The dishes here are of the most pretty I may have encountered yet in Vancouver. They are also incredibly unique and balanced in flavour. There is a good combination of recognizable items too however. You definitely get the feeling the chef is trying to tell you a story with these dishes and he is hoping you are open to the ride. Portions however are the smallest I’ve seen in comparison to the price, however I’d say the above warrants this.
I was expecting a lot more from this restaurant. Looked like a great restaurant. The halibut and morel mushrooms sounded good on paper but we’re bland and flavorless. The fritters were ok but the sauce was a bit too sour. The fried chicken was a miss. The sauce was overwhelming where combined with the kim chi it just drowned out the chicken. The waitress asked me if I wanted the bill adjusted and to give them a 2nd chance. Was appalled by that when a restaurant of higher calibre ‘earns’ the 2nd chance not request it on good faith. Food was not terrible, but definitely not acceptable considering the prices
I came here for dinner on a weekday to try a variety of dishes I was pleasantly surprised by Agassiz Rice Congee with Halibut. The Rosemary Smoked Clam with Potato Cream was good too. I found that the portions are a bit on the smaller size but they do use quality ingredients in the dishes. foodology.ca
