No lunch buffet despite advertisement for it. Ordered KVC at servers recommendation, but found it lacking flavour & value. Paratha & dips were delicious, but service left something to be desired. (2/5)

This is a small Indian restaurant located near the intersection between Broadway and Main. In addition to their regular menu, which consists of a pretty extensive selection of curries and various south Indian dishes, they also offer a buffet and lunch specials. I had their Butter Chicken from their lunch specials as well as a Kutto Rotti with Mutton. The food was quite tasty and reasonably priced for the portions. The server I had was a bit curt, but also fairly attentive. If you enjoy Indian food, I’d definitely recommend checking this place out.Lunch Special Butter Chicken ($11.99):3.5/5This came with rice, pappadam, raita, dhal curry, as well as 3 chutneys (apple, tomato, and coconut). The curry wasn’t my favourite personally: it was completely salty in flavour, and lacking in some of the sweetness/tanginess that I prefer. The pieces of chicken was also a bit on the dry side; however, the portion was pretty generous for a lunch serving. I also really enjoyed the pappadam, which was like a crispy, savoury wafer. The basmati rice also stood up well to the curry. The chutneys were a nice touch: I liked the apple and the tomato; I was not a big fan of the coconut however, which was a bit too salty and lacking in fragrance.Kutto Rotti, Mutton ($12):4/5This was pieces of bread that’s cooked with various spices, egg, and lamb. I really enjoyed this: I guess it’s kind of similar to chopped up pieces of noodles. It was very flavourful, with a nice bit of heat. I did find the lamb pieces to be a bit small, but reasonably tender. Summary:Food: 4/5Price: 4/5Service: 3.5/5Overall: 4/5Recommendations: Kutto Rotti

We just arrived in Vancouver, this was the first place we choose to have food in. I was really craving dosa, so I ordered a plain dosa for myself and shared an idli. Both the dishes were perfectly made and were served to us on time. The sever was very interactive and honest about how the food was cooked as we were all vegetarians.

Walk in through a small door on a busy street and you’ll be greeted by a clean restaurant with occasional sounds of strong chopping. Chutney Villa is a place for south Indians if they want home away from home. The best thing on their menu is a dessert, ‘Kesari’. (‘Halwa’ for north Indians with a twist). You ask for spicy and you’ll see quite a number of green chillies in your food, which makes it more than authentic. Don’t ask for extra hot unless you eat raw green chillies. Just the way, we spice loving creatures like.Cons: no parking around this restaurant. Basically on the street, but it’s a busy street and you probably will have to walk down from the next block if you are really in mood for some south-Indian. But even if it’s raining and you have to walk a block, it’s kinda worth it if you make the right choice.PS: Had the Masala uttapum with a lot of green chillies. Amazing experience and food.

Such amazing food. Best service and the food is always great. The food tastes just like how it is cooked at home. They could even accommodate many people with fast service. Overall, it is a great restaurant.

Asked for authentic spicy. Got authentic spicy. It’s south Indian/Sri Lankan cuisine so don’t expect butter chicken. Surprise hit: roti canai
