as traveler we are happy to come here. the decor and food is very western style. we love the french fries. they mix with spices that make it taste more savory. plus an additional dip for the poke which makes the taste even better. ah ya, the chicken and waffle is good. fast orders come out. surprisingly they give us candy at the end. so happy..
3.5/5 chicken waffle brunch is more like a grilled chicken feel more than a fried chicken taste (which I like it a lot). I would recommend to order their famous fried pickle if you ever visit this place. I think it is probably one of the best fried pickle in metro Vancouver. Friendly stuff!!!
This is a small diner located on Main Street, not far from Broadway. They have a casual atmosphere, and have sofas available in addition to regular tables, as well as various games for patrons to play with. Food-wise, the menu consisted of comfort food: fries, sandwiches, burgers, etc. I had their Chicken and Waffles and Mac and Trees. The food didn’t really blow me away, but was fairly tasty, and the prices were also fairly reasonable. The service was a bit slow, but the staff was very friendly. I’d definitely recommend checking this place out.Chicken and Waffles ($15):3.5/5This came with 2 small waffles and chicken tenders, and was served with a side of gravy and maple syrup. The waffles were a bit dense and hard, but still tasty, and contained sesame, which provided a nice fragrance. The chicken tenders had a pretty nice crunchy crust that was well-seasoned and flavourful, and the meat was quite tender and juicy; I did find some of the pieces to be a bit too small and not meaty enough, however. Mac and Trees ($13):3.5/5This consisted of macaroni, mixed with broccoli, and was served with a biscuit. The noodles were very well cooked, being tender whilst retaining some chew. The sauce was quite thick and coated the noodles well; it was a bit underseasoned however. The biscuit was a bit dry for me, although it did have a nice savoury flavour and fragrance of sesame.Summary:Food: 3.5/5Price: 4/5Service: 3.5/5Overall: 3.5/5Recommendations: Mac and Trees
Comfort food & Trivial Pursuit galore!. Came here for brunch this past Saturday with my bf. He had the fried chicken and waffles and I had the fresh fruit, cream and waffles. Hands-down, best waffles I’ve had anywhere. Everything was fantastic, including the top-notch service. The servers kept coming around to refill our water and coffee, and with a smile! Beat that, you Main Street hipster cafe restaurantsWhile we waited our food, we were entertained by the 70s/80s retro decor and the trivial pursuit game at our side. Its unfortunate they are closing down (due to condo development on the land, typical) but they are looking for a new location. If they do, I hope that’s the only thing that changes.
Fun place with unique atmosphere. Rumpus is a haven for hipsters and for those who want to dine in their grandparent’s 1970s inspired living room. Its grungy/cozy atmosphere complete with old sofas and board games, lampshades and pink flamingos, makes for a unique dining experience. The food does not disappoint, with a number of unique entrees, deserts, and drinks. Unfortunately the restaurant will be shutting down as the building it is housed in will be redeveloped. So you’ve got a week or so to check it out before it closes! For being fun and unique, Rumpus gets my seal of approval…even with the excess faux hipsters…
Amazed!. This place is amazing. The best atmosphere ever. It’s like I stepped into the 70s. They even have couches. I can tell by the ratings that it’s not for everyone. And yes I agree one of the servers came off as really rude, she had brown hair and I felt ad though she was mocking me everytime I thanked her and was polite. The server with the blonde kinda curly hair was great. But if you love great food with vegan choices, a funky atmosphere, vintage decor and a great selection of drinks well you’re in for a treat. Started off with deeo fried pickles and they were the best I’ve ever had! We ordered chicken and waffles which were an amazing decision. As well as the peanut butter burger. Both were an absolute strange combination of the perfect ingredients. The chicken and waffles were perfectly salty and sweet with syrup and gravy combined. Peanut butter burger was huge smothered with pb and bacon. Fries were excellent as well. And of course going this far we had to have dessert too. We ordered deep fried cheesecake and a deep fried mars bar. Oh sweet Jesus they were yummy. We had to take some home and it was still as good as a late night snack. Absolutely love this place and would love to make it my hang out spot even though I live in Surrey. The travel is well worth it!
This place is way overpriced with little charm that extends past the quirky flamingoes decorating the outside deck. Service is slow, as is the food for what is basic, straightforward diner fare. It’s OK but won’t come here again.
