Best variety and prices in Vancouver for sushi. Everything from their boxes to their rolls are at w different league than the money grubbing average sushi place

Excellent value for fresh nigiri and the best nabeyaki udon! We shared eighteen pieces of various nigiri and every piece was just awesome. Tuna, Salmon, Sake Toro, Unagi all very fresh and tasty! The Nabeyaki udon had enough portion to serve two people and the soup, noodles, tempura, and veggies in it were all excellent. It’s rare to find a proper one under $10 anywhere so I’m sure glad Sushiyama has it.

Decided to come here at a coworker’s suggestion and I was so satisfied with the black cod. I’ve seen other Japanese restaurants charge double or triple for the same amount so I thought maybe the quality wouldn’t be as good but I was was totally wrong. The black cod melted in my mouth and even the skin tasted perfect. It’s clear they use great ingredients. I also shared some rolls with my group and they were all so flavourful and far exceeded my expectations. The Tuna Tataki roll and Yummy Yummy roll were the best but the others were delicious too. To make the visit perfect, our server was friendly and the food came out right on time. I’ll be back for sure!

WORST customer service ever! If I could give 0, I would! We order take-out from this place from time to time. Because the hot sauce and mayo drizzled on top of the sushi got messed up a few times by the time we got home,, we typically request that they put the 2 sauces for the drizzle on the side. And before last night, they’d put the 2 sauces in separate containers for us. However, the woman, who took our order last night, didn’t seem to understand what I was asking – she kept saying that the sauce is already mixed with the seafood and can’t be separated. I tried to explain that I only want the drizzle that normally goes on top of the sushi to be on the side to avoid any mess, and, everything else can stay the same. She cut me off a few times, claiming she’s taken my orders before and know what I want, and then hung up before I finished talking. When the food got home, we found that both sauces were put in the same tiny container – not only made a mess and hard to get one sauce that that normally goes on top of one of the items. So much for hoping to avoid a mess! Further, the sushi tasted very different, not much taste, even with the drizzle we put on. My husband said they only had a few tables, didn’t seem very busy at all. Needless to say, we weren’t impressed.I called the next day and unfortunately, the same woman answered, who claimed to be the manager. When I told her that the 2 sauces were put in the same container, which made a mess and didn’t seem to make sense since only 1 sauce is drizzled on the spicy tuna. She was fairly argumentative, but I finally found out why the sushi tasted so bland – they left out not only the drizzle, but also the sauce that normally goes inside! Hah! She didn’t understand at all what I was asking, and didn’t have the decency to let me finish explaining before hanging up. Such terrible customer service! If there’s one thing Vancouver has plenty of, it’s sushi restaurants. 🙂 Needless to say, we will never eat there again!

Our first attempt coming here was during the time that they closed for renovations. Back a second time, and they were reopened. The restaurant is quite large with plenty of seating. There was no problem in getting a table. Service was pretty good too. They take your order by inputting it into an iPad/tablet. Thought this was interesting because usually it’s all you can eat places that do that and not a normal restaurant. Since we were here for a snack, we ordered lots of nigiri so we could choose each one. I had the unagi, chopped scallop, salmon belly, toro, amaebi, ika and hamachi toro. The quality isn’t amazing, but it was cheap. So considering that, it wasn’t too bad. Chopped scallop had a different taste than most places. I didn’t really like it. We also got a chirashi don because we felt bad if we ordered just the nigiri. The don was quite large and had a variety of fish. It also came with a miso soup. Overall, I think if you want some cheap sushi, this is the place to go. It isn’t the best quality, but it’s decent.

I usually write my reviews either while dining or shortly after and I kind of forgot about this one so I’m a bit foggy on some of the finer details. I was seated at the bar and ordered salmon sashimi, toro, negitoro roll, chopped scallop roll, dynamite roll, and chicken udon. All of the sashimi was delicious; super smooth and fresh. The rolls were delicious too, nori was a bit chewy and had great flavour. The chopped scallop stood out because it didn’t contain any mayo or masago (which was a nice surprise). I loved the udon (served with mushrooms and the spice mix that I love). Noodles were cooked just right and the broth was yummy. I think the total bill was around $35 including tax. Service was great and servers were friendly. My one major complaint: I could see the shelving above the sushi bar and saw a bottle of cough medicine and a bottle of vitamins. I also didn’t witness a ton of handwashing and witness a bit of reusing of gloves. I’d still eat here again.

Their Nabeyaki Udon is to die for!! If you love udon, this is THE PLACE to get it – perfect for a cold winter day! Aside from the udon, their sushi and other dishes are amazing too.
