Went in expecting a great meal but left very disappointed. The nigiri was expensive and specials like the bluefin tuna nigiri were $4.25 a piece but they weren’t fresh or memorable. Some of the fish like the salmon were very poorly cut as if amateurs made them and the tamago was not handmade. I tried several different rolls with my family but they were mostly below expectations and worse than an average sushi restaurant in Vancouver. The dynamite roll was the only decent roll among the ones I tried. No matter what do not get the chicken karaage here! It barely had any meat on it and it was poorly fried. The taste was not good either as the seasoning tasted really odd. Toshi is terribly overrated with a limited menu and poor food. Service is the only good thing here. Save your money and have a much better meal elsewhere.
The fish here was very fresh and flavourful. You can definitely tell the ingredients are high quality. It is a very small restaurant with high wait times no matter when you go. Expect at least 30 minutes. In my opinion the food is worth the wait. Prices are fairly cheap for the amazing food.
Came here after hearing people say its comparable to ajisai, i probably wouldnt put it as high on my list as ajisai as it was lacking in my opinion. Also, keep in mind this area is pretty hot inside and if you are waiting for a table you have to wait outside which was sad because it was raining but they have a good reason behind it. Worth a try but i would probably stick with ajisai (:
good servicelong line ups/ put your name on wait list/ they’ll only seat you if everyone’s theregood food but I don’t think it’s worth the wait/ I enjoyed the baked black cod and teriyaki chicken roll/ everything else is similar to many Japanese restaurants, nothing memorable would I go back? Probably not if I have to wait
Fresh sushi with affordable price! Worth to line up cause usually there’s always a line up here! We were lucky cause we came earlierfor some reason i felt the yellowtail taste better than ootoro here lolThe sushi box is interesting and taste refreshing i like how they put lemon on top of it!Everything was good except sakura scallop they didn’t tell us that the scallop is choppedAnd too bad uni is not in season when i went there but overall dinner in toshi was a very good experience 🙂
This is by far the best sushi place in Mount Pleasant. It is affordable and fresh. It is absolutely wild to try to get seated in this place though. You have to wait outside for up to an hour in order to snag a seat but its worth it. Often I will order take out well in advance as sometimes they can’t process your order for over an hour due to how crazy busy they are. Still they are a 5/5 in my book!
Be ready to wait because they don’t take reservations. Here they have a piece of paper where you write your name and number of people in your group down. They’ll call your name when your table is ready. I got there around 5:45 and it looked like quite a few people were ahead of us. Luckily it was only two of us so we only had to wait about 15-20 minutes. We were seated at the sushi bar, which I kind of like. I enjoy watching them make the sushi. Service here is really good considering how busy it can be. They were really attentive and filled our tea frequently. I ordered the nigiri combo and an ika maki. This had cucumber, tobiko, and ika. I enjoyed this especially since not a lot of places have a roll with ika in it. The nigiri was also really good. The fish was fresh and the portion was surprisingly quite large. The one thing I didn’t like was the amount of wasabi underneath the fish. Personally, I don’t use wasabi so I wasn’t used to it. Overall, this place is worth the wait. Price is good for the quality and portion. Service is good. It’s a place I’d want to go back to.
