When i was growing up, i recall watching National Geographic with my father. Despite not exactly being an animal person, footage of how animals in the wild look after their own and satisfy their hungerpangs wasnt boring. Alligators and Crocodiles were a cause of particular fascination. Slow moving, giant lizards that give out vibes of perpetual lathargy, yet can be the stuff horror movies are made of if and when provoked. Remember the movie Black Water? It is the reason i refuse to visit Australia, along with my bank balance ofcourse. What do Crocodiles have to do with a restaurant review you ask? Crocodile meat.Where?Bbq Nation?I didnt even know people consumed Crocodile meat until I visited BBQ Nation! When i went there last week, i was conflicted. Do i eat the Crocodile Burger or not? After an epic battle between the Carnivore and Vegetarian inside of me, i let the Vegetarian win.Not completely though. I had the Mushroom and Cheese burger instead. I dont know what the patty was made of.Ok fine – it was beef. Sue me.Did i like it?YES!One of the better burgers ive had lately. There was nothing fancy about it. A regular burger with your regular lettuce, cheese, onion, tomatoes and pickles. Sweet and simple, with just enough to make you come back again. While i did end up going for arguably the most boring item on the menu, they do have meats such as Deer, Bison, Boar etc. Depending on which part of the world you grew up in, these would either qualify as extremely exotic meats, or more boring meats than a cheeseburger.Restaurant Name : BBQ NationLocation: 101-7238 137 St, Surrey, BC Ambiance : 7/10. Decent premises. Neat and clean. Nothing to complain about really.Service : 7/10. While a few smiles would be nice, the staff isnt rude. Quick and efficent, even if slightly robotic.Food Quality : 7/10. Recommended if you want a safe option. You really cant go wrong with a mushroom and cheese burgee. Of maybe you could? BBQ Nation certainly didnt.
Live in the area and was looking forward to a good burger. Didn’t find it here. Ordered turkey bacon burger and fries to go. The pattie was about the size of a McDonald’s burger (thin) and not fresh Frozen burger patties. Thin piece of lettuce, small slice of tomato and barely any bbq sauce plus there was no bacon. The weight was around 15-20 mins. I will say the fries were good. I would not recommend.
