Bistro 72. Considering the few tables that were occupied when we arrive and three people on the floor, the service was terrible. The tables are so close to each other you feel like you are dining with your neighbors, no private conversations here. Once the music started in this tiny space then, forget conversation at all. While some people don’t mind this type of atmosphere it is not for us. I think they should do away with the stage area and live music and move a couple of tables over in that area and get some plants between the tables for a bit of privacy. I guess this is just not the intimate dinner kind of restaurant, so unless you want to possibly meet new friends while you dine you may just want to dine upstairs instead. As for the food, well. I had the scallops as an appy and they were good, but the fish tacos were mediocre, I expected better I guess, but I have had better at Ceilies Pub and Earls. My partner ordered the seafood pasta, he is not a fussy eater, but found it strangely fishy smelling and oily. He said it got better as he ate through it, but he only ate half. We didn’t bother with desert, it got claustrophobic for us and our palates were sad enough by now anyways. I really wanted to like this place, I may go back for lunch again someday just to give it another chance, but I won’t be going back for dinner any time soon.

Thoroughly enjoyed this place. We had a Groupon, it’s always good to use one your first time visiting somewhere. We walked in to an empty restaurant on a Friday night around 6:30 and thought we may have made a mistake. We were pleasantly surprised, the restaurant was small but nice.We were brought some freshly cooked potato chips to have with our drinks which were very nice. We started with a grilled caesar salad, which we thought was odd but found it to be very good. We both had the New York Strip Loin with crusted potatoes, both were also very good. The New York cheesecake was beautiful. The entertainment was just one guy, his name is Jim Foster, he was good enough that my wife bought his C.D. We both ordered another drink just to sit and watch him some more. we both agreed it was a very nice evening and both recommend it. I give a 4 star only because I rarely give a 5 star

87% percent review for this restaurant made me curious. The ambience is cozy and inviting. The addition of some dude singing is kinda nice. But 45 minutes for our food to come out is a joke. The presentation looked good but the food is mediocre in taste. The waiters were in slow motion, constantly topping off water in other tables while we stare blankly at each other. Never did they come back to inform us that the food will be awhile. And when they finally served us the food, never did they even ask how it’s tasting. I will not come back here and I highly do not recommend this place.

Absolutely delicious! I had the pasta of the day for lunch which was a seafood penne with salmon, prawns, scallops, green beans, artichoke, mushrooms, and tomatoes in a sambuca cream sauce.I also had a side Caesar salad which was so fresh and the dressing was one of the best I’ve ever had. This is a great spot! 🙂

We came to check this place out for a groupon deal. They had live music with neil harnett. The guy was awesome. In terms of the food. It serves your typical pub food. I don’t think there was anything I tries that stood out. The stuff is not bad, but nothing I could not get in a place like the keg.The place has promise. They need to improve their service and come up with some more interesting options

A breath of fresh air.. With the sudden apearance of cookie cutter corporate pubs geared towards young boring clientelle in Surey. It is great to see this urbane, classy and well run esblishment open up.Bistro 72 is a narrow bistro with a retro loung feel, several small tables with a long bar down the other side. Great beer and wine selection with all wines one price to make it easier.Food is sophisticated and subtle with some nods to the new comfort food scene. To those used to over salted deep fried pub food, the fare here might seem bland but with the kitchen of the Old Surrey Restaurant behind them, those who want a more gourmet experience will be happy. Any place that has a lamb of the day has to be good.Servers are always pleasant, cheerful and very prompt yet never overly zealous. This is the kind of place to go if you want to impress your date or just have a pleasant evening without all the noise.Great music on the weekends too.

This restaurant has beautiful decor and the service was great. But the food was thoroughly disappointing. I ordered meatballs and the soup of the day, which consisted of mainly seafood. In both dishes, there was barely any flavour. Definitely the blandest food I have ever tasted. My fianc ordered fries, and it tasted like it was burnt. I really had high hopes for this restaurant, but unfortunately the food just wasn’t up to par with the ridiculous prices for such portions. Luckily, we had a groupon, so we paid half the price. But even then, I felt really ripped off. If you like flavour in your food, I definitely do not recommend this place. But if you love bland food, you will adore this place.
