Nice neighbourhood bakery cafe. Large assortment of cheeses, desserts, and baked goods. There are lunch items such as paninis and pasta special of the day. And best of all, the varied gelato flavours!

Thank Goodness we found Ottavio only a couple days into our 2 months stay in Oak Bay area. Their bread is fabulous, old school real bread, with substance and texture, and they will slice for you. The customer service is great, the staff are knowledgeable and friendly, although getting deli meat sliced is a painfully slow process. The Forcaccia is out of this world, rosemary & salt……yum. Lunch specials worth the wait. We never ventured into the beautiful pastries for fear of getting hooked (which would not be good on our wallet or waistline). Ottavio, we will really miss you when we leave here, wish we could take you back to Alberta with us.

Beautiful baked goods handled with care. No burnt bottom buns here, a high degree of quality control as well as excellent tastes. Plus, this is not just a bakery. The cheese selection is fantastic. I am always treated well by the staff, the cheese counter knows me by name and i only come in on Saturdays!

I have heard great things about this bakery, but once I got there I was quite disappointed. The selection of baked goods were very sparse. I ended up ordering a brioche, which was dry and flavorless, and I also got the roasted red pepper pizzette, and the crust was so tough, it was almost impossible to eat. Sorry Ottavio, I won’t be back.

Hot fresh roasted chestnuts!!! Yeah. A lovely Christmas treat! (But $5 for 7 nuts is … sad)03 Aug, 2014You call that Brioche? Pluuuease… If you are looking for real eggy flakey delicious Brioche go to Patisserie Daniel. I also agree with other reviewers that the owner and staff can be unfriendly and snooty (customer service is dead in general). And of course they should be open on Sunday! That is another symptom of their arrogance; as is the fact that it is too expensive….The good: It has a lovely patio but that’s all it has going for it. Thrifties has a much better selection of cheeses… so if you go just have a coffee on the patio.

My favourite place to gain weight. Everything! Staff included! I guess if your warm and friendly you get the same treatment. we have been going to this Delicatessen for at least 7 years, highly recommend by our Ozzie friends. If you have a problem see Christine or Natalie there are people there to help. Linda

If you like over-priced products, lacklustre service and a snooty attitude, then you’ll love it. Over-priced, poor service and snooty.Don’t bother with this place, go to Italian Food Imports near the corner of Blanchard and Fort instead… they are AMAZING.. great stuff and always extremely friendly.
