This review is for The Village Torquay location, although I’ve been to this Estevan location for take-out before. I love the Village (I’ve been to all 3 locations) and love to support local businesses.Staff are friendly and we didn’t mind the 30-45min wait time we were given during the Sunday lunch timing. I was supposed to receive a text when my table was ready, but never got one. So after 50 minutes I came back and checked on my table – turns out they had sent a text but obviously to the wrong number. We already knew what we wanted to order and I got my mocha real quick. 45 minutes later I was done my coffee and our food still wasn’t here. Unsurprisingly our waitress came and apologized profusely and confessed she lost our order and so it was never put in. Another 15 min later we finally get our food. By then it was 2pm and we were hungry from our morning hike! My Red Barn benny was delicious and not only because I was hungry. Their food has not disappointed and even though their portions aren’t large-looking like ones at Jam, it is more than enough to be comfortably satisfied. To apologize again, our waitress got us strawberry pancakes on the house and a discount on the bill.Despite all the stuff above, our food was great, service was professional, and I love their strong coffee. I’m so glad there’s a location in my neighbourhood!

Lovely brunch. Super light, healthy and local/organic eats. Tasty and excellent options for celiac and other dietary needs. Super busy but cute Street with shops for while you wait.

Brunch was pleasant yesterday. Coffee was strong, service prompt and attentive, and some interesting items on the menu! Notably the french toast was fluffy and thick and not too sweet! The shakshouka was a fair balance of flavours and not often present at other local brunch places. Warm and friendly dining room. Nice neighbourhood joint:)

It’s alright. The potatoes were salty. Small portions for the price you pay. Friendly service though. There’s a ton of breakfast/brunch places in victoria and this wouldn’t be my first pick (or even the top 5)

We used to live in the Estevan Village area on Hamiota so on our return trip home for Xmas we drove through our old neighbourhood and noted the addition of The Village. It looked good but we already had many restaurants on our list to visit. Then friends of ours invited us to join them there a couple days before our departure. This is their usual Wednesday breakfast place. Boy, was I ever glad they took us there but now wish we would have gone way sooner as I want to go again! We went for the Eggs Benedict and are they ever spectacular! Served on potato latkes – amazing! I had the Italian Benny which is served with Portobello mushrooms on the potato latkes with a delicious pesto and topped with a great hollandaise sauce and green onions. The flavours were amazing! My husband had the Back Bacon Benny and it looked absolutely delicious. I want to return to try this one! The place was packed the entire time we were there. Even all of the outdoor seating was full – on December 31st – people were eating outdoors! And it seemed like many people knew each other and this was a usual gathering place. It was great! I wish the Village would have been in the neighbourhood when we lived here. We will definitely return on future visits. sunseeker37food.blogspot.com

Went in this morning. Not bad but the hollandaise sauce is a bit creamy and salty. The portion was good and perfect. However, compare to other brunch places out in the city I wouldn’t come pick this place if you want to eat eggs Benny.

Best place in town. I love the Village! I went to the Royal Oak location the first time I ate here and have since found the Estevan location and am so hooked. The servers are sweet, attentive and are always happy to chat about your day. The first few times I came it was on a weekday and there was no line up so it was easy to get in and eat and head back to work. After that my boyfriend and I started coming on weekends and noticed you will usually have a bit of a wait, but they take your phone number so you can go window shopping or down to the beach. I definitely recommend the shakshouka or the challah french toast. Once again, HUGE FAN of this place because of its relationship with the community, amazing food and the way it feels like al hub of happily fed Victorians.
