Excellent fish and chips. I decided to give Willows Galley a try since I hadn’t been back since it was first sold several years ago. It was a last minute order that I called in just before their 7pm closing and I worried a bit on getting there that they were in too much of a rush to close up to have done justice to the order. What a surprise! The fish (cod) was generous, fresh and not greasy. The batter was dark and crisp and the fish tasted as though there was a touch of lemon. The chips were tasty also, even though they had to suffer a car ride first. Gallows is back on my list for fish and chips in Victoria.
Phoned in my order for a pick up and was not given a total. Just thought it would be reasonable since the place looks shabby from the outside. When I arrived, the person who appeared to be the owner (older man with moustache) was yelling at a teenage girl who was working for him. Then she gave me the price and I was surprised at how expensive it was. I asked the teenage girl how much the 2 piece fish plate was and she acted totally indignified that I’d even ask. There was another clerk who seemed to be watching and acting as if I had no right to ask. The food was not worth it either. Batter tasted like soap, Fries and coleslaw were fine but surprisingly expensive and super bad vibes from the staff working there. Won’t go back. Bad experience.
Great fish & chips & prawns!!!. Went there for the first time last night!!!! Got a recommendation to come here for fish &chips…. We loved it!!!! So good! The fish was so good! The prawns were amazing!!! And the tarter sauce was the best I’ve ever had!!! It was definitely worth the 30min drive to enjoy this food!!! And it was great to read the story of the owner on the wall!! Such a good story! And he was super friendly… Stopped to talk to us for a couple min! We will be back!
Went here for a quick bite today and it was great. I had the chicken burger and it tasted delicious. The prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get and the staff were all super kind and helpful. Thy explained exactly what was on the burger and made sure I would like it. Definantly recommend this place.
My Go-To Fish & Chips. Really nice fish and chips. A little on the expensive side, but it is worth it. Halibut burger is really good. Its not breaded, so it is also nice and light. I’ve also tried the cheese burger, it was simple and really tasty! Customer service is always very friendly and prompt.
Best in town. I know that taste for something is 100 % subjective and that if something is good, tell the world! That’s why I’m here. To tell the world that I found the Willows Galley fish and chips to be the best in the capital region, by far. For a while now I’ve been occasionally trying to find the best tasting batter. I found it at the Willows Galley. The fish is fresh cut on site and the sourdough batter is incredible and also made on site. the fish is hand dipped at the time the order is placed so whoever is saying the it is all processed and pre-made is obviously lacking in basic observation skills and intelligence. I found the owner and staff to be warm and engaging. I will be going back again and again and again, forever!
They’re back!!!. Thank god they have brought back fresh real potatoes no more frozen fries. This is the first time we have been back in over a year and we only live a block away. We phoned in our order, Sunbather burgers and fries which was ready in 15 min. Server was friendly made sure I had all the condiments I needed. Burgers were great and the fries REAL good!! We will definitely be going back. Come on locals it’s safe to go back in the water!!!
