The red velvet cupcake is awful, icing is way too rich; like you're eating a stick of butter. Felt genuinely nauseous a couple bites in; don't plan on…

Good: creative cupcakes, fresh, moist, not overly sweet, helpful staff, monkey businessBad: mini cupcakes are by preorder, overuse of ribbonI was browsing my entertainment book app one morning and found this place listed so I decided to drop by for some cupcakes one weekday morning. Place was easy to find as it shares a building with a few other businesses. The coupon I had said 50% off my order to a max of $5. I went in thinking of getting a half dozen of minis as a sampler but they only had large sizes or prepackaged one dozen minis. The girl who worked there was unaware of the coupon and had to make a phone call to ask. The person on other side of the phone call didn’t seem to know about it as well but they agreed to allow me to buy two cupcakes at half off. I appreciated that they made an effort to give me some discount. They also gave me a stamp card that I fully intend on filling.I ended up choosing the monkey business and cookie monster cupcakes. I wish they didn’t use so much ribbon to beautify my two cupcakes. Felt like that’s just a waste. The monkey business is one of my favourite store bought cupcakes to date. I’m a sucker for cream cheese frosting and the cupcake itself was very moist with lots of banana flavour. Each bite held up and it didn’t get sticky, crumbly or messy to eat. The cookie monster was just as moist and had buttercream icing. The icing was very soft and not overly sweet. When I get cupcakes from Cupcakes ( by Heather and Lori), I find that I eat half the icing, scrape of the other half into a napkin, eat the cake portion and still feel like I had a sugar overdose.Overall, I am definitely revisiting Ohh la la for the Monkey business cupcake and have already told a few people that they should give them a try when craving Cupcakes.
Best Cupcakes In the city. That’s it. Enough said. Just go
All about the Triple Bypass. Tried some of their cupcakes at a party recently: the vanilla (not bad), the peanut butter (pretty good) and then the one called triple bypass… a rich brownie cake with soft caramel in the middle – so amazingly good!
I picked up a 6 pack of cupcakes for a friends bday, and a sample pack for at home. overall, ooh la la makes great cupcakes! i wasn’t too keen on the light/vanilla ones, but they do a very sumptuous chocolate batter with great texture.
LOVE the Triple Bypass cupcake. The cake is more rich brownie than typical light cake- and the caramel in addition to the icing is perfect. I’ve also tried their signature Ooh La La cupcake and the Nuttin’ Butter- and I was dissapointed by both. The icing was far too buttery. Yeuch! With that said however- I will continue to go back for the Triple Bypass time and time again. Yum!
Nutz. I do not get what is special AT ALL about these cupcakes. Okay taste, okay icing. Not exciting. And impossible to get a cupcake without nuts for a person with a nut allergy.
Best cupcakes in the city. Best cupcakes in Victoria, cookie monster cupcake is my favourite.
