As a long time customer, I am very disappointed with St Germain quality control process on their products.My daughter loves their new product the molten cheese tarts, so I went to the Oakridge mall branch this afternoon to buy some for her. I noticed that some of the tarts were burnt on the edges and request the sales person to not give me those. She laughed at me and said that she had to sell the tart in order. I can understand the first in first out principle…but in the first place those burnt tart should never be offered for sale. After telling her I refuse the burnt tart, she reluctantly sell me the un-burnt ones..She was not happy about it and it showed on her face…I remind her I am the customer and she rudely offer me the money back.I know St. Germain is an award winning bakery and me and a lot of my friends have been long time customers…I am disappointed with the lack of quality control and condescending customer service attitudes. This sort of issues should not happen in a bakery which claimed to be gold and silver medal winners in the International Culinary Olympics Competition.How many of you have experienced rude customer service at the Oakridge mall branch? Let’s hear it.
I came to pick up a Mother’s Day cake for a post BBQ dessert. Picked a number and waited. The atmosphere was very frenzied. Everyone was yelling over each other and seemed to be a rush. The wait was about 5 minutes, but it felt longer with the loud crowd. The server who helped with my order was pleasant. I picked the white chocolate strawberry cake and she offered a couple of times to add a message on the cake.The cake was springy with a light, custardy white chocolate mouse and was topped with strawberries on steroids. All the moms at the BBQ really liked. It wasn’t too sweet and was quite refreshing after a heavy dinner.Their cakes and pastries are pricier than the standard Chinese bakeries. I don’t mind the splurge because their quality is generally better, but I find the pushy crowds makes shopping here quite stressful. The nice server talked me into signing up for a VIP card so I guess I’ll be coming more regularly. Darn these loyalty programs.

It’s chinese new year and it’s busy here as usual. Last minute little food gifts to your neighborhood or family friends are lovely. When you buy some radish cakes they give you a nice red bag with it. And it’s only a dollar if you wanna fill them with buns and pastries.Remember to grab a number. It’s a very busy time of the year!Happy new year everyone! Good health to all!
I called to ask their direction and the lady told me she could not tell me the location. She instructed me to get direction from other people in the mall. Very Disappointed so I decided to go to other bakery instead.
I agree with the previous posts about their service. Their service is awful. The staff there are all serving with snobby attitude because they think their bakery is well-known. The high ratings are for their cakes but not their service. Anna’s Cake House which is just outside the mall is better in service.
Too bad =(. I have too many unpleasant encounter with Saint Germain that I am definitely not going back. After trying their cakes many times, i find them not fresh, often soggy. Customer service is just terrible.
