Worst food ever tasted! $45 surf n turf gave us ammonia smell prawns! Not just me but 3 ppl knows what I’m trying to say. Waitress took them to chef n they said nothing wrong with them. Compensate with a pc of halibut, still smell bad! I think they should either change chefs or just get fresher seafood! Not going for freebies but manager should knows about this. No wonder the place is empty on a busy Friday nite!

Surf n Turf. Husband and i came here for our anniversary, hearing about the new menu. we had the surf and turf for two, which included salmon and ribs, mashed potatoes, vegetables, mushrooms. I would recommend this dish. the food was delicious, very tasty. service was great too, I think most of the service staff was new but they were very personable, prompt.

Unimpressed. We joined some friends for dinner on a Sunday. The room was nice, albeit a bit dark. The day we were there, only two other tables were occupied. Our server was a young lad with little knowledge of the menu or the (very limited) wine list. I’m not even sure there was a manager on duty. We were offered cocktails, but no water (I had to ask for some after dinner). Typically in a restaurant such as this, you’re offered sparkling or ice water when you first sit down. Not the case at Stake.Appies and entrees arrived within a reasonable timeframe but we were surprised at the lack of attention after the plates were dropped and the pepper was ground, despite the high number of vacant tables.Oysters were 3 for $9 with no options. No idea where they were from but they were nothing special. The Chef’s selection at Coast Restaurant in Vancouver beat this offering by a country mile. They didn’t even come with lemon (!?!) Beef carpaccio was lacking in flavour but the pear salad was nicely done and, according to my wife, very tasty. My sirloin was tough (which was a surprise for a restaurant with such a name) but our friends ordered the tenderloin which they said was good. My wife ordered the steelhead with rice pilaf and was quite satisfied with both taste and presentation. From the time we declined any choices from the dessert menu (which surprisingly contained nothing with chocolate), our server disappeared for at least 30 minutes. Don’t get me wrong, we were in good company with close friends, but by the time we’d hit 2-1/2 hours, we were all ready to go. In short, Stake is high priced and short on service and atmosphere with mediocre steak. I’d rather spend $150 for my wife and I to dine at Cactus Club or The Keg.

DISAPPOINTING!. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY OR TIME. Bad, bad food! Prices inflated like it’s a top notch restaurant……the waitress was nice enough but not enough for the $100 we dropped for 1 appie (3 oysters), 2 entrees (steak not even warm and my 2 bite lobster was not even a good impression of a crayfish. My husbands vegies were 1 baby carrot, 1 baby zuchinni, and 1 baby squash which a toddler could toss back no problem. No dessert and no alcohol!

Rotten crab cakes-literally SOUR as in OLD, burnt steak, horrible food.Service – they don’t know the difference between KUSSHI and other oysters, what I ordered was Kushhi what I got were large full oysters warmed. Waitress came to my table once then disappeared to flirt with other customers. Took forever to even get her to notice me for the bill, a good 20 mins. She never checked on my table to see how the food was, nor apologize for serving me rotten crab cakes. As we left, and passed her, NOT even a goodbye or thanks for coming. TALK ABOUT GOOD SERVICE. Do not go there, or if you do take a zantac and pep to and be prepared to be ignored.
