Well…We come to Penticton every year. We walked by and noticed they changed the name from Vallarta Grill to El Catrina. They had two restaurants at one time. One was a sports grill and the one that turned to El Catrina. The sports grill is still open and has turned more casual. I am currently sitting to get a seat at Salty’s and there is NO WAY I would go sit and eat at El Catrina. The howling singing from the owner is un barbel and Im debaiting on leaving saltys so I dont have to hear him try and sing.
We brought our daughter and had a great meal! Fresh, well prepared and delightful service. A must! Pricing was really reasonable. We’re local and will be back. Loved the comfy chairs and music too.
Excelente – bravo al chef!. Fresh, Fresh, Fresh – everything. Nice authetic Mexican taste with real ingredients – no cans, no jars, no crap!! And if you really need that Canadian favourite, try their hamburguesa and by the way, it’s also freshly made with real meat. Definitely a restaurant in town that my husband and I will be frequenting.

Dined here on July 11, 2014. Party of 5, waited over an hour for food to arrive, rice and beans side dishes were cold (we didn’t eat due to food safety concerns). Sides were replaced, after we requested they be hot, and they again were cold. No visit from manager to inquire as to our concerns, nor to apologize, nor to discount $$ due to cold meal and long wait. Won’t return.
Great!. Good food, music, service. Fresh, clean, lakeshore views at reasonable prices.Margaritas and tacos superb!
