AMAZING food, badly served.. Upon arriving in Penticton, many friends suggested we make sure to eat a meal at the Hillside Bistro. In between a few other tastings we stopped in to eat a late lunch just at the tail end of the lunch service. All three of us were amazed at the quality of menu choices. Our final choices did not disappoint- every bite was delicious, and the portions were well sized (if not maybe a little too large for our small stomachs). The kitchen was very accommodating of the allergies at our table.Having all worked in the service industry we all understand the stresses and pressures of table service, but our experience was below what any of us expected. The server appeared indifferent to serving us, unable to accurately describe the menu items, forgot to bring a non-alcoholic drink menu after committing to it, and timeliness was not her forte. With such amazing food and so many recommendations, we can only presume that this service experience was an anomaly.
Poor service. Unpleasant experience. We went for a special birthday lunch today at Hillside. The waitstaff took our name, and asked us to wait while a table was cleared. Subsequently, they sat 2 parties who arrived AFTER US WHILE IGNORING US COMPLETELY. One party was just there for coffee. When we pointed this out to the staff, we were shrugged off in a nonchalant manner, so WE LEFT. Suggestion to management: Train staff to understand the concept of First Come First Served. We had a way better experience at Poplar Grove, with experienced staff and great food. Why would we pay you to treat us badly?
We love it here! Hospitable, genuinely nice staff plus great food and lovely wines! The landscaping and views are amazing too! Oh and the desserts are all to die for! We liked it so much here we ate here three nights in a row!!!(p.s….. Come dine here instead of the cold, grey, unwelcoming restaurant at Poplar Grove- its only five extra minutes to drive here)
Amazing! For those looking…. Amazing! For those looking to finish their wine tasting experience in Naramata, Hillside Winery and Bistro is a must! The value for taste and service is great… not to mention the view! Exceptional quality and laid back attitude! We’ll be back!

Food was terrible. Was there with a BRIDAL shower in the summer last year, they sat us outside in the sun. Very hot… terrible experience. Do not go there!
We have visited the bistro each of our trips to Penticton in the last two years. While the menu is small, both meals have been great. Enjoyed their upper level patio on a beautiful afternoon overlooking the lake and vineyards.
