I continue to come back to Il Vecchios for the great, no amazing sandwiches. But what also amazes me is the bizarre counter and service setup they use. There is no flow. Customers are walking back and forth in front of each other to order, then to pick their toppings, then to pay. The subway model of service is used for a reason, it makes sense, there is a flow to it. Everyone behind the counter does everything, it is chaos. Customers who frequent the deli we used to this and know what to expect, but it still doesn’t make sense. Today it took my friends and I 40 minutes to get our 6 sandwiches. I wouldn’t say that’s acceptable. No one seems to be in charge, and the miscommunication between staff was evident. Granted it was a busy Saturday, but the length of time we stood waiting will make me think twice about going back any time soon. The sandwiches were delicious.
There is no other sandwich like it in Canada, it’s the combination of the right bun, condiments (sweet mustard> hot), cheese, meat(go with the regular 4 or the spicy 4 meat) and veggies (get all the veggies). It is amazing, only other comparable sandwich would be a perfect bahn mi from Ba Le sandwich shop in Vancouver.
Poor service. The sandwiches are so delicious that I’ll come back even though the service was terrible. I was sitting down eating my sandwich when a guy walked out the door after buying a sandwich to go and I heard the employees talking negatively about him.
Lunch sandwiches. We travel to penticton quite often,and when in town we make sure buy lunch here . Best kaiser sandwiches in town.

Good food, bad service. Sandwiches are delicious and reasonably priced.But the girls working there are never friendly. Their poor attitude makes me feel like they’re mad I’m in there ordering food, as if it’s a hassle.
Lots of hype.. I was looking for a good lunch joint in Penticton. After reading the reviews on here I thought this was the place! After eating here however I was kind of disappointed. Sandwich was mostly lettuce, and it would be really nice if they had a counter. Just pick a number, do a bit of shopping, then when you number is called you can go up and place your order for sandwich or meats. Staff was friendly but I likely wont return.
