Walked in here at 9:40pm, They close at 10pm but still greeted us nicely and allowed us to come in with only 20mins left before closing. The food took a little long to come out but food was good, quality of sashimi was fresh however the pieces were pretty small. The rest of our order wasn’t anything special however the prices are on the higher side. Our bill came up to $85 so we gave them a $100 bill, they didn’t bring us back our change like they should’ve. Instead they automatically kept that as their tip. Although that is what we would’ve tipped them but we thought that was pretty rude of them to not return our change and let us do the tipping part. Other than that it’s a good place to grab a bite if you’re looking for something better than just a fast sushi joint.
My wife and I went to this establishment last night and to be honest, it was a mediocre experience. We were given a free bowl of edamame to start with our drinks. I was very surprised at first as we had not ordered any edamame but when told it was on the house, I was immediately enthused. It was dry, old, and looked freezer burnt. I guess it was old stock that they feel they needed to use up quickly, but I think this is a very bad move for any restaurant. I immediately felt very cheap. I like free things as much as anyone, but when it’s old and stale, you don’t feel very special and in a way almost robbed of a worthwhile experience.I tried not to let this get the better of the entree but when that arrived, I knew, we were in for more of the same. Sashimi was very thick, and could have been sliced a bit thinner. The dynamite roll was huge and needed to be cut with a fork, way to big.I guess all in all it wasn’t bad but it just wasn’t good either. Mediocre is what I would rate this sushi house. Too bad, it wasn’t actually that bad in terms of service and timing.2.5 out of 5 stars for me.
Food is tolerant, service is slow. They put way too much rice on each sushi rolls and with tiny main ingredients. Sushi was tolerant, rice was slightly hard and Nigiri Tuna were slightly frozen. Overall the price and service are not worthy to go back again.
Food is good, service is bad. We are new to the area so we are learning the hard way whats good and whats not. We had tried 2 other Sushi places and were not impressed enough to return to them. So on a Saturday afternoon we decided to try this one for the first time. We found the service to be wonderful and food fresh and fast. Portions were a good size too. We weren’t crazy about the tuna tataki we ordered its not what we were used to, there was no cold Sake apparently it was sold out …. but all in all it was a very pleasant experience. We thought we had found our place. So we went back the next week (wed) for my hubbies birthday. Service was terrible! It was not busy except for some take out pick ups. The main chef seemed to be sitting with the only other table in the place and they were pretty loud. I told our server when she asked how we were that we were great, we are celebrating a birthday and there was no response from her at all …no refill on the green tea either. No plates removed. My husband had to flag her down to get another beer. We had to go get our bill to pay it. The food was still good but the ambiance and service was not what we experienced on the weekend at all. We might try here again for take out but we will not return here mid week again. I still tipped the lady but she certainly did not deserve it.
A most excellent sushi experience. Big portions, very tasty and friendly staff. Check it out peeps!!
Great atmosphere, great sushi, chicken terriaki is alright not my fave, staff are friendly and inviting. One of my top picks to go to for sushi
Great food!. I’ve eaten at a lot of Japanese restaurants, mostly in Richmond, and this is one of the best I’ve been to. Their prices are in line with other sushi restaurants and their service was fast. The best part is that they have an amazing array of food, from what I could see it was all delicious. I have dynamite rolls all the time but somehow even their regular ones tasted better than most places. They have a tuna meal that’s made up of various tuna sushi that is fantastic. The only down side is it doesn’t suit larger groups, it’s a smaller restaurant. I’d say if you have more than six people it’d be tough getting tables to fit together, and in fact if you have six people you may want a reservation as not many of their tables are even capable of accommodating that many people.
