Great Service, especially by Pavel! Athene’s has been part of this neighborhood for years. It’s nice to come to back to my old neighborhood and enjoy a great Greek dinner for a great price. If you are looking for a casual dining experience with great portions this is the place. I love the Calamari dinner and the Lamb shoulder is exceptional to.
Fantastic Greek food. Large portions and tasty. The appetizers are cheap prices for a Westside location. Our server seemed over worked as it was busy. They have a coupon in the Entertainment book, so give it a try. I come here at least once a year because of the Entertainment book.
Great service!. This is the place where I fell in love with Greek food. Athene’s is one of my most favourite restaurants, and I always tell friends and tourists about this place. Let me tell you why.Food-When I first started eating here, I could not believe the portion size, especially in comparison to other, more mainstream restaurants. I’ve got a lot of energy, and possess a healthy appetite. One meal at Athene’s, and I’m full. As for the taste, you can’t go wrong with anything, especially the souvlaki. I also really like the homestyle touch you have with the food.4/5Service-Hands down, the best. Throughout the years, I’ve had really professional, patient, helpful waiters. All of them stand out, and really make you feel like they care about your well-being at Athene’s. I’ve been to some places to celebrate with moderate-large groups, and taken some time to decide what we’re going to do next. I’ve had waitresses try to kick us out within 5-10 minutes if we didn’t order anything. Athene’s is the complete opposite. Athene’s was busy, but George (the waiter) was still very courteous and treated my group very well. This is the difference between a completely profit-driven business and incorporating excellent customer service into a business. 6/5 Athene’s has been my go-to place for everything from one-on-one lunches/dinners, to large group celebrations for years. I will definitely come back. You should come too!
Kals fagito!. Overall, good greek food + prompt service. been here a couple of times and really enjoyed the greek fare @ athene’s. too bad the weather outside was chilly during both of those visits cuz it would’ve been nice to be seated on the patio and dine alfresco. overall, good greek resto in the kitsilano area.
If something else is open, go there. Went as a table of four for a bite. The place was virtually empty but we were sat almost in the lap of another table of four. The lamb was fine, the rice and potatoes were bland and flavorless. This was the first time I’d ever been served a baked lamb with steamed vegetables like broccoli, cauliflower and carrots. Much like the rice and potatoes, the vegetables were bland and flavorless. The girlfriend had the calamari and left half of it sitting on her plate. It was just generally nasty. As a fan of anything fried, I picked at her calamari. Once. Then tried desperately to get the taste out of my mouth. Save yourself $30 and go to the Greek counter in the mall.
We ordered takeout. Waited when we went to pickup. Forgot part of order. Food was cold
Great Greek. My daughter and I wanted to sit outside on a beautiful, warm summer evening and eat Greek food. Athene’s delivered! We got a table on the little sidewalk patio and started with the fried calamari appetizer with pita bread. The portion was generous and the calamari was fresh and delicious. For our entrees I had the arni psito (roast lamb) and my daughter had the kota rollo (stuffed chicken breast). Again we were impressed by the generous servings, and the flavors were fresh and bright. We washed it all down with a bottle of retsina. We shared one of several great-sounding Greek desserts and had a coffee. The cost of all this food was reasonable. All in all a delightful dinner. Just what two out-of-towners were looking for.
