Happy to have Mac falafel in my area. I like to try different food ,when Mac Falafel opened ,I went to try their food I couldn’t believe the amount they put and was shocked of how cheap it was under $10 . Yes under $10 . I took a seat and start taking a bit from every thing they put on my plate . It was amazing ,.unbelievable .I had to take another order home for my husband . A week later i went with 4 of my friends . To make a great experience short .I don’t cook as often as before. both me and my husband fined it cheaper to eat at Mac Falafel . and stopped trying other food. now i am addicted to Mac Falafel food, simply because it is tasty, clean & very very affordable .Thank you Mac Falafel
Want entirely too impressed with the food. I think it smelled better than it taste…
Used to be alright…. When the owner (older guy with a moustache) was serving the food, this place was great. Now, he’s not around and either a young guy who really likes his MMA or a rather miserable older woman is serving. The food isn’t as plentiful or good, the service is begrudging and indifferent, and the prices have gone up.Also, these new people either don’t know how to work a cash register or they deliberately overcharge on a consistent basis. Unacceptable.
Better than that other Mac’s. Too bad about all the trash-talk on this place — it’s a FALAFEL joint, fer Crissake! — because I found it to be acceptable and cheap. The felafel patties were warm and crunchy outside; the hummousy sauce was tasty and I liked the predominance of parsley in the salad.I’ve eaten falafels in the Old City in Jerusalem (world’s best place!) and from New York street vendors (usually fantastic) and yeah, Mac Falafel is not to those standards. I go for the Israeli style with spicy slaws as the salad. OTOH, it surpassed the falafels I had in San Francisco and Melbourne, Australia, two other places I’ve lived where there are lots of Middle Eastern natives and falafel shops. So if you’re riding a bus to UBC and want to jump off to get a quick, healthy eat that’s NOT a greaseburger from that other Mc’s, go for it! And for roughly $5, you could conceivably stretch it into two snacks.I’d also like to add that the time I went there, the cigar-rolled baklava was unbelievably fresh, light and crunchy. Maybe I just caught them at the right time, with a fresh batch. But compared to the hundreds of times I’ve eaten mushy, syrup-soaked Greek pastries, the one at Mac Falafel was stellar. Next time I’m on that side of town, I’m going to Mac F’s just to see if the good baklava was a one-off.
I love middle eastern food and it’s usually very tasty and delicious. I left here wanting to go to a better place for shawarma but didn’t. I ordered a large which usually fills me up but this didn’t. Instead I was confused how such terrible food was able to keep a place open. Tasteless, bland, cheap and not worth it…
