great food, not so great service.i’ve been coming to mama lee for a while now because it’s close to ubc campus and quick with serving. my experience today might give me second thoughts about coming here again.ordered hainanese chicken and curry rice rolls, which i had later for to go. the server came with an obviously used/washed plastic food container so i had them change the container. gave no tips because it was a mistake that should have never been made.you should’ve seen the eyes the older lady at the counter gave me when she asked why there wasn’t any tips. i probably was 7/10 on returning but now it’s 2/10 🙂 thanks for the attitude.
Mamalee Malaysian Delight is located in Kitsilano, and it is more closer to UBC area. This place is pretty small. We ordered half Boneless Hainanese Chicken. It was nice and soft, but it was in a quite small portion size. We also ordered a Laksa Noodle Soup. It was ok, but it was not the best we have have though.Totally don’t recommend the Chee Chong Fen. Worst service ever! Ordered a takeout order ahead of time and they forgot about it. Needed to wait another 15 mins and they didnt even apologize said there are people ahead of me. The people handling the food is also handling the cash register. Disgusting!

My favourite Hainanese Chicken Rice place….boneless, soft, tender, never overcooked pieces of dark meat chicken….soooooo yummy. Can’t say the same for the rest of the menu, tho’.
This place is my favourite place for hainanese chicken. It’s flavourful, moist and is just really satisfying. The chicken here comes with a spicy sauce and ginger sauce, cucumbers, rice, and daily soup. This is what I always get, but this time we tried out a few other things as well. We got the roti canai and the chee cheong fun (original flavour). The roti was good, but it came with way too much sauce in my opinion. But I guess it night be good for those who really want to soak it in. The chee cheong fun was alright. Nothing too special about it, I just wanted it because I hadn’t had it in a long time. Except I did think that it would have peanut sauce too but I didn’t really taste any. I’m not an expert with this dish so I don’t really know what the sauce should be like but I remember having one that had peanut sauce at a different place. So I guess it just made me assume, but the dish was still good. The place here isn’t big at all. Be prepared to write down your name and wait. Service was pretty good even though it was busy. This is definitely a place I’d come back to.
came here on a very earlyl dinner actually almost in the afternoon, came here and the menu is quite different because they use pen and is erasable type. so then ordered hainan chicken rice, well it was definitely okay, did some justice if you are craving for hainan chicken rice, but definitely a small portion as well. and the price isn’t cheap for the portion. so then overall i was say the chicken was good, the rice was well made as well but price wise is just a little bit harder for me to say yes or revisit the place. mangkr.wordpress.com
