Lots of great variety. Mix the bakery has an excellant variety from all the way to rich and savoury desserts to everyday gourmet soups, sandwiches, and coffee. The staff is very helpful and the environment at mix the bakery feels just like home.
Red Velvet disaster. Ever since the management changed so has the quality. We used to order sandwiches from Mix for our staff meetings but the last few times you could definitely taste the difference. Thought would give them a last chance by ordering a birthday cake. That was a mistake. When placing the order I mentioned I wanted a simple red velvet cake, the requirements moist cake with a not too sweet cream cheese frosting. Was told customers loved their red velvet cake and was a popular cake in the bakery. In return I got a pink cake…the baker mixed red food coloring in the icing…end result… bitter tasting frosting. The cake had more layers of frosting than cake…each cake layer was half an inch thick and was hard. The frosting fell away from the cake as you cut into it. Was told the baker over mixed the batter, but made it fresh the night before. Huumm… not the answer I was looking for…Too bad I didn’t let a bad cake ruin my birthday. But for $43.00 you think you should get something better than Safeway.14 Nov, 2014Red Velvet diasater. Ever since the management changed so has the quality. A good place with drawbacks. I like this place a lot, but my recommendation of it does come with a couple of caveats: Many of the Mix breads are good, but not all — go for the sourdoughs, or the seedy, wheaty options, and you’ll be in for a treat. Avoid the under-developed flavours and textures of things like the plain white baguette. The sandwiches here, and other lunch things, are good, and they have a very nice line of preserves. The wait to order and to be served will probably require patience, even on occasions when they aren’t all that busy.
My favourite Breads. This is the place where I get all of my bread. It’s delicious especially when it’s fresh. I love their whole wheat sunflower seed, cranberry pumpkin seed, and cranberry ginger breads. Their granny cobbler sandwiches are to die for.
Tomato Soups is delicious. Went there because of the Groupon deal.Sandwich was good, and the tomato soup was delicious.
Cute and quaint. Unpretentious little hideaway for sipping coffee and enjoying fresh baked goods. Friendly and knowledgeable staff.
Great spot for a quick bite. Great sandwiches, soups. A good spot for breads as well. A great neighbourhood cafe
