Only a 15 minute bus ride from UBC. The place is quite homey and good for university students as the food is very cheap and affordable. I ordered the chicken teriyakirice and my boyfriend ordered the Beef teriyakibento box; we both shared some takoyaki. I found the food quite so so. I would have enjoyed it more if the teriyaki was more crunchy. I didn’t try the sushi, and many other dishes on the menu (there are heaps). Would recommend to university students on a budget though!!
I went to this place for lunch after discovering that my initial pick, Teriyaki Bowl, was apparently closed on Tuesdays. Being a non-sushi eater, I stuck to the rice/noodle section and ordered their Hot Stone Bibimbob, which was served with either beef or chicken (I went with chicken). I quite enjoyed the food, and found it to be a pretty good value for the portion. The staff were also very friendly. This is a good place for a quick and affordable meal. P.S. They serve complimentary miso soup to first time customers.Hot Stone Bibimbob ($11.50):3.5/5This came in a big stone bowl that was piping hot and sizzling. There was a good heap of vegetables consisting of bean sprouts, pea shoots, seaweed, zucchini and carrots, as well as a decent amount of chicken and a fried egg with a runny yolk. The rice here was perfectly cooked without any clumps, and the parts at the edges crisped up and browned nicely and added a fantastic crunch as well as fragrance. I did find the meat and vegetables to be a bit too bland for my liking; fortunately, the soy sauce and gochujang that was served with the bowl helped. The portion was quite generous; I’m a big eater and I was actually quite full afterwards.
