The Galley Patio and Grill has not gotten any better since we last gave it our review in 2011. My wife’s salmon burger was raw, the fries it came with were under cooked and we paid over $ 15.00 each for this. They need to hire a new Manager and train the staff in the kitchen to properly prepare the food safely. The only reason why this place got 2.5 out of 5 is because of the view. Just order a drink and no food and you will not be disappointed. For $ 30.98 for two meals without drinks I can think of plenty of other restaurants in the area that serve great food for less.
Great patio. Good selection, reasonably priced for Vancouver, food was ok to good. What made the evening fabulous was the overall experience. The ambiance is unpretentious, yet I ate dinner basking in sushine on a sun soaked, breezy patio, poised for a spectacular sunset on the water with a beautiful BC mountain backdrop. Normally a bit of a food snob, I didn’t even mind that the food was somewhat lacklustre. Best of all, I was served the largest ice cream cone outside of the US, so big I was embarrassed. And it was fabulous.
The view is spectacular. Prices hover around $10 and I thought the food quality was good- they make most things in house and everything was much better than I expected! (Truly- this is not the snack counter I might expect on the second floor of a paddling club building!)Salad was fresh, the fish tacos proved to be a large portion- 3 stuffed soft tortillas that were also full of fresh ingredients. The standout was the service, which was really friendly and the staff truly seemed to care- for example the counter person popped out to the deck where we were sitting to check on us as he noticed my friend deconstructing her tacos, then he offered to re-make it when she told him she had forgotten to ask for no onions.I’ll be back but may ask for more gravy on the poutine next time as it didn’t quite cover all the cheese curds.
Poor decisions this year! They’ve changed their fries (we’re very good, now like crispy dregs at bottom of the fryer–just because you went to a thin fry size, doesn’t make them tasty. Salmon burger was blaaaaand. Way downhill from previous years, fellas. Your clientele aren’t tourists who are willing to pay Disney prices for Disney food quality. We’re locals who expect some consistency and reasonably good food.
Incredible view but a bit pricey. We were on the patio on a beautiful sunny afternoon, the view was nothing but spectacular, the staff was very friendly, the food was alright but overpriced and a little slow in coming . This would be great spot to enjoy a couple of beer on a lazy summer evening.
Had the jerk chicken burger. 8 out of 10
I only like it here in the fall or when the weather is cooler. Food is so so as its your basic burgers, salads, fish n chips you know standard fare nothing to write home about. The view is awesome on a clear day. I’d avoid this place in summer as you’ll have to fight for a table as they have no system for you to get a table when it becomes available so you have to resort to lurking behind people eating within inches of their food and glare at others also trying to get the same table. Not a relaxing way to spend an evening is it right And it takes a while to get your food after that so yah avoid in summer don’t say I didn’t warn ya. But on a clear crisp fall evening. The experience is spectacular here! And oh yah I recommend the oyster po’ boy sandwich its my fav!
