Fave dishes include palak paneer, vegetable jalfrazie, goat vindaloo, vegetable biryani, garlic naan, lamb vindaloo, chana masala and their pakoras. The service is just mediocre. The interior of the restaurant is nice enough, the patio is just okay.
Best Indian restaurant in the tricities!!! Great food and great service! My favourite dish is the Veggie Manchurian. We are always treated like special guests here, and have heard from others that they are treated the same way. Love this place!
Went here a few years ago and wasn’t impressed. Thought we’d try it again a year or so ago and were once again disappointed. And it’s certainly not cheap. We ordered mild and there was almost no flavour in any of the dishes. Well made Indian food should be somewhat savoury even without much hot spicing. The vegetarian season vegetable dish we ordered was, well, just plain weird. And the much vaunted Alaska cod, which appeared to be deep fried, was five rather small chunks smothered in a tasteless sauce. Only reason I give it two stars is the service on the Friday night was very pleasant and attentive.
We ordered the lamb tikka masala and the butter chicken. We found that the food was very mediocre and a little overpriced. However, environment was nice and comfortable.
Expensive!! You can get just as good Indian food for half this price. The servings are small and the price is high. It cost us $29 per person (no alcohol – only tea) plus tip for lunch BEFORE tip and we left feeling like we were still hungry. It is all priced separately – so a $14 dish serves one – We commented about the $14 lamb dish been very expensive for what it was. It had approximately 4 ounces of lamb and lots of sauce. The owner who is rude and arrogant to begin with, commented that lamb costs $9.00 a pound. (well at that price we are paying $36 a pound…and I understand that restaurants need to make money BUT REALLY!?!?!? PLUS you need to buy rice, and roti, etc. It would be even worse if you went . There were 4 of us. Would not go here again. Also it is very dark inside – with black table cloths and is not appealing for a business lunch. Feels more like a night club or a place to cheap to pay the electrical bill.
Fantastic service. Seam was very very attentive. Introduced himself to everyone who came in through the door. Checked in very often and explained the dishes to us. The food was fantastic! I had the Aroma Special Mix and my friend had the Tandoori chicken. Very flavourful and spicy! I love it. After dinner, the manager asked the magician to come to our table and do a show. It was fantastic. I was baffled. Great service, food and entertainment. The restaurant was quite full on a Saturday night. One advice. Don’t eat the candy after your dinner. The candy ruins the flavours that your dinner has left in your mouth.
Even though we only visit Aroma in Port Moody about once every two months, the owner greets us like we are his long lost friends and makes us feel very welcome. He is charming beyond belief! The only Indian food our daughters like right now is butter chicken and the butter chicken at Aroma is their favourite. We also like it but we also like the Malai Kofta. Big beautiful pieces of potatoes and grated cheese cooked in a rich creamy tomato sauce…yes, I love the Malai Kofta! Tonight we also had the Vegetable Jalfrazie. It was good and my wife and I enjoyed it immensely. The naan bread, as usual was wonderful. I highly recommend Aroma and promise I will be back to dine there again.
