After seeing all these raving reviews on Zoomato, I decided to send hubby to Cake-ya to pick me up some desserts. He said the place was hidden and kinda hard to find, and that the selection was very limited. Maybe it’s more of a call ahead, made to order bakery. The redbean daifuku was pretty bland and dry. I was rather disappointed. Hubby also bought some match shortbread and regular shortbread cookies. They weren’t bad, but again tasted bland and had a kinda gritty texture. I’m not sure if the cakes are much better but I would rather go to T&T for Japanese baked goods at half the price.

Love their strawberry cake. Highly recommend this place!!! Cake Is always fresh and just whipped before u arrive. Light fluffy and not to sweet. We always order for birthdays for our entire family.

A nice experience. I bought a Sakura mochi and a pack of Okinawa Shortbread at Cake-Ya’s stall in the japanese festival at Nikkei The mochi was very delicate and not overly sweet, both my mother and I enjoyed itI also chose the matcha+seasame shortbreads. Both were full of flavour; I especially loved the seasame one!

The mochi and the rare cheesecake are to die for. Definitely worth the trip, and the ladies are all super nice!

Is it worth it?. I saw the good reviews and went to this place to get green tea/red bean roll cake and the popular egg custard. while the lady behind the counter is very polite and helpful, the quality is no better than T&T. But the price is about double so you pay for the smaller batches……
