When we first drove up to the restaurant, the place looked kind of sketchy because it’s also got rental units upstairs. We almost turned around but glad we didn’t. The food at Maekhong Thai was really delicious! They have an extensive menu compared to all the other Thai restaurants that I’ve been to. I’m disappointed I can’t their menu any where online however. :(I really enjoyed their papaya salad. It was very fresh and a nice balance of sweet, sour, salty and spicy flavors. Next, we had their red curry. The curry was super flavorful, full of aromatics and I could taste the depth. The curry itself was nice and thick from the coconut milk. And lastly, we thried a stir-fry noodle and veggie dish. I apologize I can’t recall what it was called but the flavors of the basil and herbs were delightful. Markhong Thai was a nice find. Don’t let the sketchy building scare you away.
Hidden gem in Port Moody. You can tell love and care goes into the food they make here. Owner is also incredibly kind and sweet. 100% give this place a go.

We love getting thai food for take out and Little Thai (Maekhong) is by far the best we have had so far. Even my dad (who happens to be a chef) said its the best! The owner is the sweetest little lady, always friendly and thankful for your service. The food is cooked to order so it takes a little longer but its so worth the wait. Very authentic, great flavors, classic tastes; we only ever order thai from here (unless they are closed!). The restaurant itself is tiny, only a few tables and the outside pink color could use an update (and a power wash) but other than that, everything is great. Expect a 30-45 minute wait for takeout orders. We have ordered thai at every place in Port Moody, Maekhong is the best. Highly recommended for friendliest service and authentic delicious thai.
The Green Curry Was Life Changing Good!!!. What an amazing and unexpected dining experience on a Friday night! Moved from East Van to Poco 2 years ago and have yet to find a decent Thai place and this one beats any one I have ever been to before! The lady owner/chef is just adorable and came to our table to give us details on the dishes we were interested in. Each dish had it’s own distinct taste and flavor rather than all tasting the same like some other Thai places. Everything and I mean everything was made with love and details to flavor and presentation. Don’t expect it to rush out to the table as they make each dish to order and trust me it is worth the wait! I can’t wait to go back and knowing they have take-out with 15% off leaves me thinking a I will be a weekly customer! Place could use a bit of sprucing up with some new paint and they do not have a liquor license to enjoy a Thai beer with the meal, but who cares really as it’s quaint, clean and best service and green curry ever! Oh and order the appetizer sample..best bang for your buck and each bite makes your taste buds wake up!
Fantastic. Six of us arrived on Friday night. The restaurant was empty. We ordered Spicy fried tofu and spring rolls as appetizers. I could have eaten 3 orders of the tofu. It was not very spicy but had a delicious sweetness to it. Our main orders consisted of chicken Pad Thai (one mild spice and one hot spice), a shrimp green curry (medium spice) and chicken green curry (hot spice), and Lad Nar. It is one of the best green curries I have ever had. Everything was served right out of the kitchen, piping hot. The only thing was that the Lad Nar was the last to come out of the kitchen , a little slow, but that insured that it was freshly made. I cannot say enough good things about this little place.
Awesome little restaurant! Good sized portions, fresh ingredients and friendly service. The salad rolls are incredible… one roll is an appetizer and the other two are enough for my next meal. Ask for fresh mint or basil! The curry dishes are loaded with veggies too – sure to please. The kitchen is small so order ahead or pick an appetizer to enjoy while your your meal is being lovingly prepared. Enjoy!!
