First experience a few years back not long after they first opened was quite good, when we enjoyed the cozy home-spun atmosphere, meeting the owner/chef couple, and partaking in their decidedly non-standard Mexican fare. Our phone-in take-out order for four around two years ago was a different experience, however. While the young fellow on the phone was pleasant, exceptionally helpful and patient, the food ended up being spare for the most part and, on the whole, pretty bland. Three of us ordered plates of a couple of varieties of enchiladas and the fourth a burrito. The enchiladas had almost nothing inside and the rather skimpy servings of pudding-style beans proved virtually tasteless. I’d trade those trendy swooshes of sour cream adorning those beans and tortillas any day for something more substantial. The kale salad, which we’d had before, was a nice starter, but when it came to the mains the burrito was the best of the lot, and undoubtedly the most filling. Turns out the owners, who we don’t believe were there that night, had not long before opened a second location in New Westminster. I sense they may be stretching themselves thin on the management and food prep side of things and it showed in the results. Since it’s been over two years since we last tried them, give it a tryyou may have a different experience.
