Busy, yet friendly, staff at 12:45pm on a Tuesday afternoon.Thoroughly enjoy the atmosphere of ecletic music & books. My Rustica Panini & Butternut squash soup were fare, but I prefer a little more flavour. Was served a teaspoon instead of a soup spoon. It was easier to slurp Japanese style, a teaspoon just doesn’t cut it!Just a note for future diners:- condiments are at the counter, including salt & pepper- water, napkins & straws are at side station by kitchen- ingredients labelling on pastries could not be trusted. For those with allergies BEWARE lack of information available through staff- cutlery will be delivered with food- for internet access see bookstore for username & passwordOverall I will enjoy the next experience more the second time around as the first time was a learning curve just to ensure I accessed the basics for which I came…The pricing for entrees was noted at under $10. In my opinion an entree includes a soup or salad. For this option the choices really range from $7-13.Spacing, even at a busy time was considerate of a relaxing & comfortable ambience.Food 2.5/5Service 2.5/5Presentation 2.5/5Value. 3/5Recommendation 3.5/5For true food value & ease of accessing flavour preforances, unfortunately, Subway still wins out. Ouch, yet, ambience can go a long way to an enjoyable time out.

Don’t get the quiche!. Lovely setting in a bookstore, great coffee, nice salads and sandwiches. However, my husband and I unfortunately both had the quiche. Without a doubt, the worst quiche I have ever eaten. Rubbery and tasteless. Come on guys; did you use plastic cheese and frozen pie crust? Both the Greek and the ham and ?? tasted almost identical. Making a great quiche is not rocket science. Emmentaler Swiss and Gruyere cheeses, heavy cream, egg whites, egg yolks and good fillings………….also a homemade crust would help. I know that the cheeses are expensive; but I would have gladly paid $7.50 for a really yummy quiche. I love the setting and the staff was friendly. Maybe someone could try harder with the quiche??

Great atmosphere. The coffee is good and they serve some interesting and modern things (Mexican hot chocolate) the London fog is wonderful and the pecan caramel bars are to die for. Very nice little patio in the back to have a smoke and a coffee in the sunshine. Plus if you’re lucky someone will just get up and hop on the little piano they have there and provide a bit of entertainment, if not there is plenty of reading material.

If you like lots of bean sprouts, minimal meats and hanging out with pretentious people this is the place for you. If not save yourself the time and disproving looks by stopping by pita pit instead.

Great for a quick lunch. The food is fresh and light and tasty. The prices are reasonable.

Much Love. Cafe Voltaire is amazing -a wonderful atmosphere and tasty salads, sandwiches and specialty coffee drinks. It’s simply impossible to leave without purchasing a book. Its whimsical atmosphere is the biggest draw, and chances are that the people sitting beside you are discussing something cultural or worldly. Two thumbs up.

What’s not to like. Lovely situation in the bookstore, great variety of delicious and comforting foods. The soups are especially fabulous, especially when it’s blowing 33 below outside. The prices are a bit steep but the food is worth it. I wish the latte packed a bit more of a coffee punch.
