Prince George loves Wasabi, but a 4.9 rating? Really? Wasabi sushi is great for all day take out, but not exceptional by any means. The last time I went in we ordered off the menu and they took the sushi and salad out of the cooler onto our plates. I don’t mind the take out sushi in plastic container when I am taking out but not when I am dining in. I do not want sushi that has been sitting around when I am dining in and paying tip. The staff is more than friendly. They really make the experience, but the food is just okay. There are far superior restaurants in Prince George. I don’t understand what the fuss is all about.
Only place in town you can get as close to the water sushi as somewhere in the lower mainland. Great service, even appreciate the small- close to other customer Japanese feel. Rice basically falls off the rice (proper rice cooking)
Quality. Best sushi and service i have ever had in any restaurant. Each time I visit, their service and sushi is top quality. Very hard working, kind dedicated people.
The good and the bad. I ate a bento box at Wasabi Sushi seven years ago and I was so disappointed that I had not been back since. This year I ate in the restaurant three times and had various sushi combinations . They were well prepared, fresh, and tasted great. Excellent sushi for Prince George, Life was good.Today I went to dinner with my girlfriend and we tried the bento boxes again…..The raw fish Sushi tasted quite good as I have come to expect. The cooked items in the bento boxes were lacking. The noodles were plain with poor tasting teriyaki sauce. The teriyaki chicken was bland on top of cabbage and bean sprouts. The sauce was watery and tasted like teriyaki and a packaged gravy. Ugh!! Far better teriyaki chicken and noodles at the lowly Edo in the mall. The tempura was greasy with stale tasting oil, some items over cooked, sitting in a pool of oil. The greasiest tempura I have ever had. The tempura dipping sauce was overly sweat and insipid tasting. The simple salad was ok, but watery. The ginger dressing has a different taste than most, but not to my liking.Other than initial quick response the service was perfunctory; they did not ask how the food was, showed little pleasure in their job, and we had to ask for any needed service. Wasabi sushi has good to excellent sushi with a fairly wide selection, so I will stick with that on my next visit. The cooked items leave a bad taste in my mouth and are sooooooo disappointing!!! Stay away.Sushi Hut is the best all round (mostly authentic) Japanese restaurant in Prince George, though Wasabi sushi has a wider selection of sushi and sushi combinations.
Wasabi is an excellent restaurant. With a very metropolitan feel and authentic Asian food (at an excellent prince) it’s definitely worth a visit! The owner is very involved with the restaurant’s operations. He’s extremely generous and friendly, he remembers his loyal customers. The quality of service is top notch, fast, and professional. If you’re looking for an inexpensive and delicious meal, Wasabi is an awesome way to go!
Great when you’re on the run. I would say Wasabi is overall the second-best sushi in Prince George. Major pluses include speed-of-service, a selection of Japanese beers and portion size. The best meals at Wasabi are their bento or katsudon; both are very generous helpings for the price. Sushi is good, if not great, but its ready availability is a definite plus.
Wasabi. All you haters can hate…but if you want what of the art sushi go to Vancouver….you’re in prince George and its the best ace in town….also has a patio! great for summer time sushi
