We entered the place for the first time craving Ramen after seeing this place showed good enough ratings to try. Then the poor treatment began. First we weren’t greeted. Then when the lady came around she ignored us. I asked if we could sit down and she looked at me with disgust and just shooed me to the table. Super rude! The food not worth returning for. The place needs a good cleaning. Enough said.

I haven’t been here in years, cuz there are just too many delicious ramen joints in vancouver. We ordered the Charshu ramen and Shio ramen. The charshu ramen had more flavor than the shio, as I had to add soy sauce into the shio broth. The noodles had a good chew and the chashu were actually quite tasty! However, my shio ramen only came with one piece of charshu (while the charshu one had about 5 pcs) and a bunch of simple veggies like carrots, onions, and bamboo shoots. They didn’t scream japanese ramen to me, but I guess they were not bad for the location, price, and portion size. instagram.com

WORST Ramen ever in my whole life!. Just went today with hubby and a baby. Family restaurant, 1. No one there to welcome when we were standing like couple minutes long. And later on, lady with sad face just took a chair from the next table without asking and pointing us to the seat ‘you 2 and a baby ‘ –rude. 2. We waited for so long for that lady to take order while she was busy arguing with a customer about his orders at the cashier. 3. A man with a super naughty apron came out and took our order and just rushed to kitchen to prepare without really finished listening our order. 4. Orders are ready, OMG, my crispy chicken Ramen is really just A Piece of Fried chicken and some sprout and pretty much it. 5. That chicken Ramen is a combo with Gyoza (extra $2.75 for 4), and Gyoza is vege and taste so-so. 6. They close so early like 8pm & I saw that lady asked a couple to leave as they are closing , and we decided to leave too but shes never showed up. Eventually we paid and left no tips!

I tried this for the first time a few weeks ago, and I’ve eaten it at least once a week since then. The broth is flavourful, the noodles have good chew, and the chirsiu is very flavourful, lean (ish), & they are very generous with the meat portion. I was not a huge Ramen eater before this so I don’t have much to compare it to, but good food is good food, and I always get the feeling it’s been made with love. We don’t have a lot of interesting options in Coquitlam, so this is a welcome reprieve from the chain restaurants & Chinese food.

Great Ramen outside of the Downtown Mecca.. Today had me hankering for a good bowl of ramen so I had my trusty cuz recommend we check out Takano in Coquitlam. I decided this would be good as a trip to downtown for the best wasn’t an option. This place is Korean owned and the ramen also caters more towards a Korea palate. I ordered the miso ramen and when I asked for extra corn the owner was kind enough to give me a bit extra for free. We didn’t have to wait long for our miso ramen and gyoza combos to come out. I liked the fact that the broth tasted thick enough but not oily. This certainly caters more toward my Korean palate but I can understand if those looking for a more authentic Japanese experience would be dissatisfied. The broth was also a tad salty for me but I didn’t really mind. The portion size was ok but I would have appreciated more noodles and a bit more meat. I only received one large piece of chashu that was not pre warmed and served from the fridge. The gyoza I enjoyed. It was clearly homemade and the skin/wrapper was exceptionally thin. I could taste that these took years of practice to make and refine. They were exceptionally soft.. a bit mild in taste but I give big points for it being the real thing and not factory bought.Overall Takano left me more than adequately satisfied. If I can’t make it out to the downtown core, it certainly offers a good bowl of ramen… even if there is room for improvement.

First time being here and I can’t believe this place has been open for 8 years and I have never gone or heard of this place! missing my home country cooking I often look around vancouver for my favorite comfort food RAMEN, I am quite picky when it comes to my ramen but this place has met my standards I had ordered their shoyu broth which was great the soup was amedium consistency which I like, and the noodles were a bit on the thicker with great texture allowing it to mend well with the broth. the restaurant is alot more quiet than your typical downtown ramen shop, but the ramen speaks loud
