Such a cute and dainty cafe, i loved my morning here! I didn’t get to taste the sweets this time, but the coffee was decent. The quiche was also quite good, though the side salad greens was way too overseasoned with salt for me to consume (you can literally see grains of salt on each leaf, yikes.) Other than that one mishap, everything else was great. Will be back to try the totoro cookie myself.pictured: iced americano (5/5), totoro cookie, semla, quiche with side greens (2/5) food: 3/5service: 3/5value: 3/5 ambiance: 5/5overall: 4/5 1: poor | 2: satisfactory | 3: average | 4: good | 5: excellent instagram.com
Liberty Bakery’s a pretty small unassuming place that I’d have easily missed if I had not heard about them on Yelp. They had a modest selection of cakes, cookies, croissants, and scones. I’ve tried their butter croissant and raspberry ganache.Butter croissant ($3.25): 5/5; Flaky, buttery and melted in my mouth. One of the best ones I’ve had.Raspberry Ganache ($5.25): 5/5; The cake was rich, dense and fudgy, yet still moist. The raspberry flavour paired surprisingly well with the chocolate. I seriously wished that I had gotten 2 slices (partly because it was quite small, and partly because it was really that good). My main criticism of this bakery is that I do find their cake to be over-priced. The raspberry ganache that I got was very small. I know that I shouldn’t be expecting Trafiq-sized portions, but I do think that the slice should be at least 50% larger to justify the >$5 price.
Went here today for a quick pre-dinner snack. Got their princess cake (the raspberry curd inside is delicious), and a Totoro cookie. Pleasantly surprised that the cookie was gingerbread! I love gingerbread and am usually sad that it’s hard to find outside of the Christmas season. I also wanted an iced chocolate since it was hot out today. They didn’t quite have it but said they’d make me one. It didn’t taste that great and the dark chocolate and the cold milk kind of separated after a while, but that’s on me. It was really nice of them try making it for me! karenklee.com
I bought a scone and a cookie, and both were pretty dry and flavourless. The woman helping me asked me multiple times what I wanted, even though I only asked for two items, and she still managed to get it wrong, though she didn’t strike me as being a new trainee. The sign on the scone said it came with jam and cream but I wasn’t given either, so I asked for them. She gave me the jam after much confusion and a consultation with the owner, but I had to ask for the cream again and she looked extremely resentful as she got one for me. You would have thought that she owned the bakery and I was stealing from her. It was a comically bad experience.
This place is adorable and their cookie aesthetic is picture worthy for sure, the service was great and they didn’t make my friend and I feel rushed even though it was close to closing time, however i wouldn’t come back for the food alone. My Totoro cookie was hard like it had been baked days before and I thought my sandwich was lacking with two thin slices of meat.Overall this is a cute place to come and enjoy a warm drink with friends!
Really friendly service and great selection of ice teas. I really liked it here. They have a syrup pump so you can add as much or as little sugar as you want. Would come again.
The workers here are so friendly and welcoming!! They make every drink just to your liking even after setting it at your table. Everything here is just perfect, I loved their ginger bread cookies! Though it was after I realized it wasn’t ginger molasses and was wondering why it was different aha.
