I love this little place! They food quality it high, and the fish portions are big! I especially love how they have heated benches…great place to sit on cold days 😉 the service is super friendly and attentive. Overall great food and prices.
I have tried around 20 different sushi places all over Vancouver and this is one of the best ones there! I usually order salmon, sockeye, dynamite, tuna, negitoro and their FABULOUS B.C. roll. The sushi pizza is amazing too, so many flavors in one bite! The prices are really low while the quality of food remains very high. I have been visiting the place almost every week for the last few months and I have never been disappointed. Definitely recommend!
The service was pretty good but there was only a handful of tables so not much to cover. Our waitress that served us was very friendly and very nice. The Sushi here is very inexpensive but it is reflected in the portion size and quality.I always get Negitoro roll and like always dissect it. The belly was a little fishy but still edible, with the soy sauce and wasabi, you could almost not notice. My California roll, some pieces didn’t even have avocado in it, I checked both sides. Would I go back? possibly. There are lots of regulars as the waitress knew a few tables, perhaps they live nearby, perhaps they just really like the cheap price of the sushi. Regardless of the fact, if you want sushi on the cheap, this place may fit the bill.
If you haven’t read my reviews of sushi bars before, I only ask for the salmon and california rolls to be good and you get a 3/5. I go to every sushi bar with this mindset, but today I was with a friend and we decided to get six different things (because the three-item special is $9). We got the following: California, Dynamite, Spicy Tuna and Alaska Rolls (with Sockeye Salmon for $.50 more) with Yam Tempura and Beef Teriyaki. The special comes with Miso. For anyone who knows me, I don’t like Miso Soup, especially from sushi bars, since the soup is usually super fermented, super salty or both. This was different. The Miso felt as fresh as Vancouver can produce, which is a huge plus. The California wasn’t too mayo-y, and the salmon was tender and tasted fresh, making the Alaska all around good. The spicy tuna was a bit bland and not very spicy. I might ask for the sauce and fish to be mixed together instead of drizzled on top. Dynamite was nothing special. Most places have started using two shrimp tempura instead of one so I wasn’t surprised. The yam was soft and the beef was peppered well. All in all, my experience was very good, and I’ll return with more friends (even though the establishment is really small)
Sushi Mania is probably our favourite go-to spot for sushi in Vancouver. Weve been a couple of times recently and we usually order the sushi pizza, the BIGBANG roll, salmon sashimi, and the negitoro roll. If you havent tried sushi pizza before you definitely need to try it, so delicious! The BIGBANG roll is another must try, the seared tuna is just so good. We’ve also had the mania roll, which is topped with seared scallops, not too bad either.Prices here are cheaper than most sushi joints, combined with the quality of food and great service we will be regular customers. Highly recommended!
The food here is very inexpensive. $1.25 nigeri, $4.00 gyoza, $2.50 rolls; however, it’s definitely reflected in the portion sizes. The rolls are six pieces and about the diameter of a quarter and the gyozas are more like gyoza bites. I think the nigeri is the best value, but they are cut pretty small too. The sushi tasted decent. Very basic, average, Vancouver cheap sushi. Nothing special. I’m kind of glad the portions were as small as they were because my stomach started feeling slightly uneasy afterwards. My friend had more than I did and they were feeling like shit after. I will never come back because there’s literally hundreds of better places to go. The service is excellent though and the food comes unrealistically fast… which may not be a good thing in this case.
I was told by a few friends to try out this place for lunch. It’s a small place, which is fine, and the environment is very clean. I noticed they had their 5.95 lunch special, and so I ordered the salmon nigiri and Alaska roll. First they give me a miss soup that is included. Then came the sushi. Wow really good quality. Rice is not broken, good balance of rice vinegar. The sushi chefs here have great skills in nigiri, if you look closely it’s packed nicely and I take a bite… It’s still in formation. Beautiful…Service is excellent. My server recognized my Cologne and started socializing. That was a great lunch and man Oh man really good value. By the way I thought their tea cup was cool, it showed all the types of sushi
