Was surprised by how empty the place was at 7pm on a Sunday. There was only one other occupied table, and despite this, we were pretty much ignored when we walked in. It was fine with us; we didn’t expect a red carpet to be rolled out for us from an Asian restaurant anyway. The 6 of us ordered a variety of dishes to share. Amongst them, the snow peas omelette was the clear favourite of the night. The omelette was fluffy and thick with a crisped outer layer, the sauce very flavourful, and it just went perfectly with the steamed rice. The sweet and sour fish deserved a mention too – with its thin layer of batter and doused in sweet and tangy sauce, it was quite a delight. The crispy chicken had really tasty and crispy skin, but the meat was a tad dry. I didn’t particularly like the char siew which I found quite bland, but the crispy noodles were alright. The wonton soup and broccoli beef were good but nothing spectacular. The middle-aged waitress was quite the character – lots to say, very opinionated and loves cracking jokes. In a way, she does contribute to the dining experience; but for better or worse is for one to decide.
