We had a wonderful dinner at Auntie Pesto’s Cafe. One diner had a ‘small’ portion of puttanesca pasta which was, in our view, was a very generous size. The full portions are enormous. The sauce was full of olives, sun dried tomatoes, capers and garlic and was fresh and flavourful. The other diner has the Salt Spring Mushroom Pie which was like a ‘deconstructed’ pie. The plate had a wonderful selection of mushrooms, including shiitake and oyster mushrooms, sauted greens and roquefort cheese sauce. It was wonderful. We started the meal by sharing a bowl of mussels, which, again were incredibly flavourful. We thought the quality of the meal was excellent. The dinning room atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming. The prices were very fair and I wouldn’t hesitate to return.
Decent enough food and ambience along with very good service. Only downside are the overdressed salads. I suggest you order your salads with dressing on the side or you will get a vinaigrette soup with lettuce leaves. This even applies to salads that come with the entre.
