We ate at the Bistro tonight, which is the new casual dining option at Hastings House. The room and grounds are beautiful, the food was great and, most of all, our server was attentive and friendly. It was an exceptional experience. Eating at the Bistro ended up as a highlight of our Salt Spring island vacation. Highly recommended!!! We had the prawns (done to perfection), lamb meatloaf (moist and tasty) and ravioli (unique texture was delicious).

We went to celebrate with friends and couldn’t have been more disappointed. The food was adequate which isn’t saying much given the price tag. The service was indifferent but the waiter was quick to lock the door on our way out. We will not return.

Food was great, service was great, atmosphere was great. Don’t expect to walk out of there without coughing up a lot of cash, but worth the experience.

Exquisite. From the moment we walked in to this Tudor style house right on the harbour in Ganges, we were thoroughly impressed. From drinks by the wood fireplace, to the final course of our menu, the service, food and atmosphere were impecable. The only tiny complaint I can think of was simply a pet peeve of mine, and that’s sprigs of thyme that are too woody to be chewed. Other than that, the meal was fantastic. Perfectly cooked scallops and halibut, wonderful desserts, and a very deep wine list, this is a must visit if you are looking for fine dining on Saltspring. Wow!

Bland….. A whole lot of posturing and spectacle over really mediocre food. Definitely didn’t live up to the hype, leaving us very disappointed.

Most Romantic. Hastings House is the most romantic, serene and beautiful restaurant I have ever been….. worth every penny and more!
