Sadly, this place looked so great, but aside from the $8 hot drink which was outrageously expensive, the woman working there may be the rudest, most unfriendly person EVER! Steer clear….this place is a negative vortex of money and humanity!
Unique, cozy atmosphere. Great stop when arriving or leaving. We found it randomly and the food & flavours are absolutely incredible. We will be back next time we visit.
The menaces of Saltspring! One thing is to overcharge unsuspecting tourists for hot beverages while catching a ferry, an entirely despicable thing to do is to abuse people and then pretend youre some sort of victim because poor you have to get up early to run your cafe and this is the reason why you are so short tempered and sick. The fact is that there are hundreds of people who have fallen victim to these two menaces of Saltspring and its about time someone calls a spade a spade. This couple Alan and Manon appear very disturbed, they have hurt numerous people because of their lack of ownership around their neurotic behaviour while pretending to be businesspeople. This place is coined the little shop of horror on Saltspring…and for good reason… they dish out a huge helping of nasty abuse, vulgar behaviour and a complete and utter lack of self awareness. Perhaps instead of selling self help books perhaps you should read them or better yet- get professional help. The antics I witnessed from these perpetrators is sadly unjust. Do not take your family or children near this place. Its a dark hole on Saltspring. Read all the reviews and take heed. Dont have these losers make you feel bad for coming to their establishment and projecting their psychological neurosis on you. You deserve better, there are plenty of good quality kind establishments on Saltspring like TJs or Kismit… support those! Steer clear of these abusers! I was just appalled so deeply by how they treat others. A very sad place with owners with hearts of stone pretending to be something else.
Incredible food, nice ambience, a kind server. Would definitely go back for a breakfast bagel and a coconut-laced creamy latte. Even loved their little wooden forks.
Interesting books and artwork and decor. Full stop. We were in for a bite and the fellow suggested a breakfast bagel. We went to pay at the till and the woman behind the counter told the ‘server’ to bill us after. She told him twice in fact. Said he would bring us the order to our table. Food came out, very tasty and good flavours. ‘Server’ never came to clear dishes or check on our order. Time to pay…..$17.80 for a breakfast bagel!?!?!?!?Grossly overpriced. If this is what it costs to be Vegan, I better get a second job! To add insult to injury, my wife asked who the washroom was and was told to use the ferry terminal. How does this pace pass a health inspection??No wonder it was empty. Unlikely to see any return clientele here. Avoid.
I had an amazing experience at Morningside Organic Bakery & Cafe. When traveling, I often struggle to find meals that work for my restricted diet, and often walk away from meals feeling hungry and unsatisfied. This was not the case here, as Morningside had no problems preparing me a delicious meal that met my needs. The cheese plate was not only delicious, but left me satisfied and thrilled with my experience. I also had the most exotic mango smoothie that I have ever tasted! I had a chance to talk with the owner while she prepared my smoothie, and really enjoyed our chat. It’s nice to connect with someone who understands the trials of dining out. I would definitely return to Morningside Bakery, for the food, the atmosphere and the conversation. Keep up the great work!
This place is incredible! Our May visit convinced us to come back ASAP–this is THE BEST TEA and THE BEST SANDWICH we’ve ever had. Everything’s fresh and delicious. If you’re not familiar with a particular vegan option, just try it- you won’t be disappointed. We talked with the people a few times during our trip and found them lovely. We’re planning another visit, and Morningside will be our first stop. 🙂
